Product Reviews of GoWear fit Lifestyle and Calorie Management SystemProduct Review: Fun Device--Amazing Reports! Summary: 4 Stars
I've had my GoWear Fit for a week now. I'm semi-technically oriented, so I had a little problem getting it to sync initially because I didn't read the installation instructions carefully. Just read the directions carefully during installation and it shouldn't be a problem.
It felt a little weird wearing the strap on my arm for the first day. Now, I rarely notice it. I change it from my left to my right arm while I'm sleeping to give the skin on my left arm a chance to breath. The package insert says if you are allergic to any metals to consult your doctor before wearing the device. I have a slight allergy to nickel, so that's why I decided to swap the band at night. I haven't had any problems with skin irritation.
I noticed the band slipped off as I was trying on clothes in a dressing room the other day, so I've learned my lesson to make sure I have it on when I leave a dressing room.
I am really happy with the food tracking on the website. I understand that they updated it recently. I have used SparkPeople, Daily Plate, Diet Power and many other tracking systems in the past. I think the Body Media system of entering food is the easiest one I've used so far. The data base is a little limited at this point (compared to SparkPeople) so I spent the first few days entering many foods as I ate them. Since most people eat the same foods over and over again, this "problem" quickly resolves itself.
The website is very straight forward, not a lot of bells and whistles, but it produces clear, easy-to-read reports. I think the site should be offered for free. Even at the lowest price, the money still adds up. I would have given the product 5 stars except for the fact that there is a fee for using the website.
Product Review: GOWEAR fit Summary: 4 Stars
I having been using this for nearly a month. Am quite happy with it
I joined their website as well. The tech on the site is a bit behind some other sites out there--but seems to be improving daily
I am able to log all my food--easily upload info from the GOWEAR armband with the attachment that came with it --
That info is then included with number of calories I ate, number of calories I burned, steps taken and hours slept
in a 24 hour period. It creates a nice over view!
I also purchased the wrist monitor. If I had understood the website feature, I would NOT have purchased the wrist monitor. It works great
IF you are NOT tied into their website. I think the Website is well worth the minimal monthly fee.
I don't think you need both.
The armband takes some getting used to--but not a detriment to the product.
Over all, has been a very good purchase. I had no idea how few steps I was actually taking on an average work day!
I have no doubt it will be a valuable asset in my quest for health.
Product Review: GREAT Product Summary: 5 Stars
My wife has the Bodybugg and I just purchased the GoWear Fit. So far they are almost the exact same web interface. I agree with just about all of the other 3+ star ratings here, they covered it all.
The products themselves are the exact same, however the only comment I have is that the GoWear website seams really sloow to me and I get a lot of errors while uploading information. I can see this is generally effected during peak hours. Other than the site speed and reliability, (which honestly is not that bad) I absolutly love this product...
Product Review: Get in Control Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased the GoWear fit at Amazon.com and this item is so amazing. It is like having a trainer with you the whole day. It is comfortable to wear. It is easy to to set up on your pc. I have lost 10.5 lbs. in 28 days the right way. This thing even knows how long you have been sleeping and how many calories your burning the whole day and at any time of the day such as when your exercising. I cannot come up with anything negative to say about this. It will blow you away at what what this item can do.
Product Review: Gimick Summary: 1 Stars
This is a fantastic waste of money. The arm band is uncomfortable and downright painful if you do any exercise that pumps blood into your arms (pumping arms while running, on the elliptical, weight training, power yoga, etc). So you have to estimate for those activites, plus swimming and outdoor biking, which also don't track accurately (skin tempurature isn't exactly a great way to track calories burned when you are outside biking and a breeze is cooling your skin as you go). The step-counter isn't accurate (they will say it is in their 90% accuracy range, but I think it should be better). The user interface that is downloaded from the website is not particularly user-firendly, I had to delete and download everytime I wanted to update my stats to get it work properly, which compromises the tracking...which makes the whole exercise even more useless...I work with computers for a living, so I do know what I am doing, it is just that their program kind of stinks.
Seriously, save your money and invest in a good pair of running shoes, a new gym membership, or some comfy exercise clothes. I won't say it is a scam, because I guess it kinda sorta does what it says it does, but it is a huge gimick that provides no useful information.
