Product Review: 6 pounds gone! Summary: 5 Stars
I have had this product since November 30th and I have lost 6 pounds so far. It's pretty straight forward. You answer a few questions online and to lose weight you got to have a 500 calorie deficit per day to lose a pound a week.
Yes, there is a subscription fee of 6.95/month after the 3 month free trial from Amazon but the fee is well worth it.
I'm able to monitor my metabolism when I'm sleeping, walking, working out or whatever I'm doing. It's really fascinating to see how many calories you burn during a certain activity. I was just in Las Vegas a few weeks ago and I was surprised to see that I walked 23,000 steps per day. To know how much you typically walk or exercise per day, it gives you a good feel of if you need to get up to burn a few more calories for the day. I don't have much weight to lose to get to my goal weight but I like to eat. With this device, I'm able to eat more than I usually do. If I want have a late snack, I'll do some jumping jacks or run in place while I'm watching my favorite tv show. 2-3 nights per week, my partner go to the Costco down the street to walk around to get some extra exercise. The wrist watch is not necessary but a good tool for those who need to know their data constantly (me).
I love that I can see how well I sleep. I bought both the bodybugg and this device. They're made from the same company but this device monitors my sleep duration and efficiency. The bodybugg only monitors how many calories you burn while sleeping. The online websites for both devices are practically the same but I prefer the website of this device more. It seems more intuitive and easier to use. Overall I would recommend this product if you're looking to lose a lot of weight, lose a little bit of weight or maintain.
Product Review: A Fabulous Must-Have for Trying to Improve Health and Fitness Summary: 5 Stars
I bought my Bodybugg nearly 6 weeks ago and absolutely love it. I also have the visual display and wear both of them nearly everywhere. The Bodybugg reminds me of where I am at all times in reference to my goals. I started walking within 2 weeks of purchasing it and by the third week I began jogging. Unfortunately, I was so motivated that I broke my leg (stress fracture) from doing too much too soon, but that was not the fault of the device. Now it monitors the calories that I am burning on my crutches. It reminds me that if I am tempted by a higher calorie item then I will offset a lot of activity and/or work. I've lost 16 pounds in just under six weeks and have no doubt that my Bodybugg will help me to meet and maintain my goals. It has made my fitness plans tremendously simpler.
Product Review: A few quirks but I think it'll help me get to goal weight! Summary: 4 Stars
I've been using this for four days now and am so pleased I purchased this product! There's a few minor quirks but overall I'm thrilled.
The device itself is comfortable to wear. I have VERY sensitive skin and have had no issues yet. I can't say I've forgotten it's there but I'm really most aware of it only when lying down on that side. I haven't worn it for a full 23 hours yet. The instructions say it should be loose enough to slip two fingers through so it doesn't have to be tight to work. It plays a few musical notes to tell you it's gathering data - I've noticed an occasional delay of a few minutes after putting it on before it "sings". Battery life is great - I'm only 50% through my first charge after four days. It's mostly unnoticeable under clothing unless you wear something tight. It will be visible under short sleeves since it sits just above your elbow. If that's a problem, look for short sleeve shirts that come down to your elbow.
First, for Mac users it doesn't work with Snow Leopard at this time. No way, no how. I'm using Parallels and it does sync just fine with Firefox using Windows XP. Installation was fairly straightforward, although I did have to search to find the drivers to install the hardware before connecting it. It wasn't a direct link from the "Getting Started" area. Installation took about ten minutes - could have been five if the documentation was a less scattered but I've had way worse install experiences. Also, I went nuts trying to figure out where the USB port on the device is - I found instructions later in the online pdf but not the instruction book that came with the device. Turns out the gray middle piece pops out of the black frame and the port is on the side.
The calorie logging software works but is a little picky. I tried searching for "McDonalds" as a test and got no results. Turns out the app wants an 's and anything else isn't an exact match. You can shorten your search terms and get results - i.e. search for "McDo". I'd like to see a more intelligent search function, like what Google does when it asks "Did you mean..." Adding your own foods is easy though.
I like the online activity manager - it's pretty cool to see your calories burned by doing ordinary stuff. I'm not entirely certain how it calculates or if it's truly accurate. I did an hour on the elliptical today but it only showed 35 minutes. Were my warm up and cool down slow and so it registered those minutes as "steps" instead of "exercise"? Possibly, because my step count for the day is higher than usual. It also registered six minutes of sleep last night while I was lying down watching a movie and I'm certain I was awake through the entire DVD. Still, even if it's a little off it has me thinking more about how to get more activity in, which will help my weight loss in the long run. I'm a fairly reluctant exerciser and making that little exercise bar move is very motivating! As far as I'm concerned anything that increases my workouts is a good thing!
Product Review: A great investment in your health Summary: 5 Stars
I've been using my Go Wear for about a month, while I've only lost 2 lbs the data shows me why I've only lost 2! It motivates you to move more to achieve your goals and by eating a sensible diet you do get results. I've honestly logged every calorie this past month and my report shows that I need to reduce my carbohydrate calories, increase my protein and get moving more even on my rest days from the gym.
The sleep data has been so helpful, I'm making an effort to get to bed earlier and I notice now I can tell when I've gotten close to my 8 hours before I've even logged in for the day.
Yes, there's a subscription fee but they've made improvements to the food log and website just since I've joined and I feel like it's a small price to pay to analyze the data properly.
Is it an annoying conversation starter? Sure, I'm female and I wear a lot of tee shirts etc. but I've no problem summing it up with a quick: "it's a health device that helps me monitor my activity"
I don't wear the display device as a watch cause it is cheap plastic but I carry the display button in my bag or pocket and check it throughout the day.
I ordered a few extra bands from the company directly so I wash one each night so I always have a clean one to wear. They do get gross after gym time. The unit is easy to clean with some rubbing alcohol and I move the band slightly throughout the day to prevent irritation. Unless you have an allergy, you shouldn't have any issues with the band-it's not necessary to wear it so tight that you can't lift weights like a previous review stated.
