Product Review: It was a Very Close Shave!
Summary: 4 Stars

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
It was weird at first to shave with vibrating blades. It does feel slightly tickling and a mix of alarm lest the shaver's strange vibrating motion can cause the blades to burrow itself on your face.

Fortunately it is nothing like a gory experience. The shaver performed more than satisfactorily. It did made a quick work on my bristles. My chin and my upper lip feels real "smoothy". The verdict: The closest shave I ever had.

The head swivels perfectly along the curves. One of the unique features of this shaver is the single blade directly opposite the 5 main blades. I used it just below my nose where it is harder to reach if I use the broader set of 5 blades.

I had to read the instruction to install the batteries. Clumsy as I am, I tried to just pull it straight down to no avail. It requires a little twist to open the tip. But I like the rubbery grip.

The battery is not only for the motor. It also powers up the white indicator strip to remind you when it is time to change blades. It may not be of use to me, as I change my blades when I feel dullness and when it begins to hurt. It also has a low battery indicator next to the on/off switch. The timer is set to automatically turns off after 8 minutes.

It came with its own case so you can put it down nice and safe by the counter without the exposed blades.

Cons: Blades are pricey

Product Review: It's a Gimmick

Hubby didn't shave his face for 3 days in order to test this razor. And his beard growth is course. His words exactly, "It shaves fine but it's not any better than my cheap disposable razors and the vibrating does nothing to make it shave any better. I don't know why they made it vibrate - it's useless and it wastes batteries. The blades are too expensive and it's just a big gimmick. I don't see the point of it. If all I had to do was to just hold it up to my face and it would do the shaving all by itself, then it would be worth the money."

For what it's worth, I felt his skin where it had been shaved and it did feel very smooth. Smoother than what I think his disposable blades do, but not enough imho, to justify the expensive blade refills.

Repackaged, renamed, add a blade, take away a blade, add a trimmer, add a low battery warning, call it a "gamer" - guess what? It's still a razor

That being said, it's a pretty good razor, the trimmer is a nice touch for zipping sideburns, and it gives a close shave when used with a good gel, or shave foam on a light beard. On a heavy two or three day growth it clogs quicker than Bigfoots shower drain, probably due to 5 blades in so close proximity - it also "pulls" as much as cuts.
Consider this, when all is said and done, it's around $20 for replacement cartridges (8) or $14 for 4. All the electrical impulsed follicle teasing hype doesn't alter the fact that the end result (as in the closeness of the shave) is better with a straight razor, or old fashioned hand held safety razor that actually takes blades.
Nice toy, but makes shaving an expensive luxury, instead of a daily necessity. 3 Stars

Product Review: Journalistic Integrity? Yeah right.
Summary: 5 Stars

I just read some reviews of this over at Gamespot and 1UP, and, wow, what can I say?

It got a 7.1 and a 8.3, respectively. Hello??? What were these idiots shaving with? Because it sure as HELL wasn't this razor, which deserves an easy 10 (which the one place with integrity, apparently, IGN, gave it). Among the complaints in these two reviews were issues with "lack of multiplayer support" and "control issues"- honestly, is this a joke? It's a single player product, end of story. I guess it could be cool to have a multiplayer option but it's really besides the point, and it's unfair to review it poorly based on what isn't there- it's like saying a car is bad because it can't fly! They should have just looked to the elegance and innovation of the single-shave experience. Which brings me to the other issue- control? I am sick of these reviewers blaming their poor performance on the peripherals or software. Why not own up and acknowledge that they just don't have the skill? Invest some time and get to know the finer points of this razor and you discover how perfect the control really is. Sure, there are some unusual choices but that just shows how committed Gillette is to innovation. But enough about it- this whole thing makes me sick.

Maybe NOW people will wake up and realize what many of us have known for a long time- they've been getting paid by Schick, probably for years... so long gamer journalism, it was nice knowing you.

Product Review: Just a fancy way of saying, "Psuedofolliculitis Barbae"!!

Lets see... take five razor sharp layers of steel, and make them vibrate nicely as you attempt to drag aforementioned steel layers across your face. I am not sure what the AA powered face massage is supposed to do to enhance the closeness of the Fusion razor. Only bad things can happen.

In testing the razor, I was pleasantly suprised... I had no streaming nicks after scraping my face, but I did notice it burnt more than usual (and I use the regular Fusion normally). My thoughts are that the bouncing blades probably caused micro incisions into the outermost dermal layer... not a happy thought.

In all seriousness, I think that extended use of this product, while not dangerous, would result in a good case of PB or "razor bumps" as most of us would say!

So, not deadly... but not for serious gamers either.

I don't especially recommend this product - but I highly recommend the Fusion razor WITHOUT the vibrator attachment!!!

All the best,

Jay
