Product Reviews of Gillette Foamy Shave Cream, Barber Shop, 11-Ounce Bottle (Pack of 12)

Product Review: Best stuff out there
Summary: 5 Stars

I have no idea why Gillette stopped making this wonderful shave cream. It really does the job and the scent is fabulous. Thankfully you can still buy it through Amazon as there are no stores around here, Boston, that still sell it. Walgreen's was the only merchant that carried it and now they don't.

Product Review: Great Barber Shop Smell - Update on May 17, 2010
Summary: 5 Stars

Something has have just now started using this new batch. I must confess that something has changed. The original and currently advertised product is called "Barber Shop Clean".......however the product actually shipping is now called "Barber Shop Fresh". The can looks the same but it is NOT the same product. Very close, but different. The smell is still the same, but the orginal product seemed to permeate the skin more and the smell would stay with you for hours. This new product smells the same but when you wash your face after shaving, the smell washes off as well, no longer leaving that Barber Shop smell on your face. I still like the product, but will probably not reorder when this case runs out. What I liked before was the lingering scent that stayed for hours. When you review the ingredients on the can, you can see that although most are the same, there are a couple of differences. Apparantly these are what makes the change. Without the lingering smell, there is no real purpose in paying double the price of a standard Gillette cream. This case of 12 will last for a good while, but after that I will continue my search for something to replace it. Alas........knew it was to good to last. Foiled again!

I loathe standard shaving creams......Barbosal, most other brands. I found this about a year ago at a Walgreens (was being discontinued) and fell in love with it. Smooth, rich lather....and has an unbelievable smell......just like the old time barber shops. Leaves your face feeling clean and smelling great. I bought the last 5 or 6 cans they had and have not been able to find it again, until now. I am now on my last can and have been searching high and low for it. I think so much of it, I am buying the case of 12 and just hope when these run out it will still be available.

Product Review: I love this great old barber shop smelling shave cream
Summary: 4 Stars

I love this shaving cream with the barber shop smell. what a wonderful scent it has! I will continue using this kind. along with the gillette foamy lemon lime and barbasol ...my favorite shave creams though are still rise shaving cream and burma shave cream which Both have wonderful aromas!! Burma shave is now defunct.actually it's a 1940s shave cream but you can order it at [...]-which has small bottles of it.(sorry amazon for naming another site but I wish to help people here. thanks)actually rise shave cream is not available in my stores either so I get it at amazon.com. thanks amazon you got such wonderful, helpful products for people here!

I recommend gillette foamy shave cream, barber shop. it has a great old barber shop smell and shaving with it gives me a clean, close, comfortable shave!

Product Review: Nice shaving cream
Summary: 5 Stars

I've always preferred "foamy" type shaving creams to gels. I can no longer find my favorites in stores like CVS or Walgreen's. I found the Gillette Foamy Barber Shop shaving cream, and it immediately became my new favorite - has a very nice smell...my wife likes it too!

Product Review: Very nice scent; similar to regular Gillette foamy
Summary: 5 Stars

I've used Gillette foamy cream before, mostly the regular version. When I got this, I used it on half of my face and regular foamy Gillette on half of my face to see if there was a difference. This Barber Shop version is really different only in the scent, not in the consistency. The scent really is nice. It smells like the aftershave from my grandfathers generation. If they carried it at Target, I'd definitely buy it over any of Gillette's other creams, perhaps with the exception of lemon lime, which smells very dessert-like. If I could find both lemon lime and barber shop, I'd alternate between the two.
