Product Review: Flossing Made Easy!
Summary: 5 Stars

As a dentist of over 20+ years experience, I have seen over and over again the results of not flossing one's teeth. The unfortunate result of such neglect is inevitable gum disease, which over time leads to tooth loss. Gum disease almost always starts in-between the teeth and the only way to clean the germs that cause gum disease from between the teeth is with floss. Mechanical scrubbing with floss is the key, and all the daily brushings and rinsings will not remove the in-between stubborn plaque below the gumline. The bottom line is that we need to floss our teeth if we want to keep them for a lifetime.

I have heard all the excuses for not flossing: The floss is too hard to handle, my fingers turn blue, my fingers are too fat, I'm too clumsy, the floss hurts my gums, etc, etc. The Flossaide Dental Floss Holder removes most of these excuses. Of all the floss aides available, this one is the best. It has a long handle to reach way back in one's mouth, the floss is easy to load, the device is strong and will last years, and best of all, it is reusable. No more having to run to the store because the disposable flossers are gone! Load it with your favorite floss and you are set for healthy gums and teeth.

I have recommended this floss aid to my patients over the years and I strongly recommend it to you as well. One still has to develop the habit of flossing daily, and this device aides in the mechanics of flossing, making it a breeze. Get it and save your teeth!

I wish the pictures were better. This particular flosser is about as long as a toothbrush, and the prongs are about 1-1/2" apart. There's a little button where the prongs meet where you wind the floss around--this is held in place by a brass tack/rivet kind of thing. The prongs are angled, and at the end of each one is a shallow groove, which holds the floss in place. The handle is a bit less than 1/4" thick.

Anyway, this feels really flimsy because the material just isn't robust enough. If I really pushed it, I'm pretty sure it would snap--it would be much better if it were made of steel or something. There's a lot of "give" when I'm moving it around in my mouth, and so that plus the design of the prongs (you can see they're at an angle, which really restricts your movements), makes the whole thing really awkward to maneuver.

Disposables are much easier to use, but if you're convinced you want a refillable flosser, search around a bit and see if you can find the "Ezy Floss" which feels a lot more like a disposable.

Product Review: Good Floss Holder. There's just 1, not a 3-Pack as pictured.
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a good Good Floss Holder. It is long enough and works well. I guess I should have read the description better because I thought I was ordering 3. There's just 1, not 3 as pictured.

Product Review: Good product, definitely worth buying...

....with a few nitpicks of course. Price and effectiveness are fine, its much easier to floss with this thing (particularly with the back teeth!!) than it is with just plain floss or those cheezy disposable plastic flosser/pick things. In my opinion though I think they should've made it out of something a little stronger. Oh it doesn't feel or look flimsy at all at first, but in order to get good tension on the floss while putting it on you have to squeeze the arms of the floss holder together fairly firmly, otherwise the floss can fall off the holder easily or be difficult to pull out of the tight spots. I've only been using mine for a few days but I'm always worried I'm going to accidentally snap it while putting the floss on (and no I'm not squeezing the arms together more than the 3/4" the instructions specify!!) since it appears to be made out of cheap acrylic plastic, which in my experience doesn't hold up well to pressure at all. Perhaps its just me being worried over nothing...

Product Review: Great alternative to disposables
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this to avoid the disposable flossers. I have a hard time using straight floss because of pain issues so flossers are best for me. I wanted to love this but I had a harder time managing it than floss alone. Let me be clear that this is not the product design or anything, but my hand issues. So I'm giving it 4 stars. It really is a great little product and I'd be using it if my painful hands allowed me to. Definitely give it a try!
