Since the protein powder I was using was in an envelope, I found no use for the blue cup and left it at home, since once mixed the unit seemed unstable (top heavy). The powder would get between the blending ring and container and not mix. I tried using the ice tube, but it just added mess (do you put it in while blending and get the powder caked to it, or do you put it in after blending and have to open the thing up again). That was another problem, the lid was hard to open and close, it seemed to get "off track". I also found the powder would end up in the lid ring where it was to seal onto the cup. My advise -- get a Tupperware shaker, a small blue-ice pack, and an insulated bag. It might cost more, but in the long run, you'll like it better and not be drinking lumps of protein powder.
