Product Reviews of First Response Early Result Pregnancy Test, 3 testsProduct Review: Is that a shadow or a positive result? Summary: 2 Stars
I used this test twice, 2 days after my period was due to arrive, and then again at 3 days after aunt flo was supposed to have made her monthly visit. The control line each time was the normal dark pink-purplish color. I used my morning's first urine, of course. There was, what appeared to be, an incredibly faint, pale, shadowy, ghostly little pink line to the left of the control line. My husband and I stared at this little ghost for minutes, trying to decide if what we saw was a line or not. It says on the package that the result line may be lighter than the control line, but it does not say how much lighter. Needless to say, I will retest with another brand.
I would not use this test again.
Product Review: It's fast Summary: 4 Stars
I did all three tests..on different days....they all showed the same result.. I just wish they did not have a lighter line....and a darker line... It is a little confusing...although the results I'm almost sure is accurate. But just to be sure I ordered the tests that show results as + or - .
Product Review: More like "third response...." Summary: 1 Stars
I bought these tests because most of the reviews and the manufacturer themselves claim that they are "the most sensitive on the market." I have to COMPLETELY disagree. I took this test a day before my missed period (NEGATIVE), the day of my missed period (NEGATIVE), two days after my missed period (NEGATIVE), and three days after my missed period (NEGATIVE).
I'm already a mom and have been pregnant before, and suspecting that I indeed was again, I decided to try a different test, E.P.T, on the third day of my missed period (immediately after I got the negative from the First Response). I got a VERY faint plus sign using the E.P.T., but a plus sign nonetheless (POSITIVE). To confirm, I tested the next morning with two other brands (ClearBlue and Generic), and also got positive results (this time much clearer and more obvious). For kicks, I tested with another First Response at the same time as I tested with the ClearBlue and Generic, and was appalled to see that it was still negative and obviously incorrect at this point.
I am fairly well educated on the subject of pregnancy and pregnancy testing, and I know all about implantation and the reasons why a pregnancy test can be negative for a few days after a missed period before it turns positive. I understand that first of the morning urine has the highest levels of HCG, and always made sure to test first thing in the morning. What I will never understand is why a test that is supposed to be so "ultra sensitive" didn't pick up on my pregnancy when literally every other test did. I finally got the FAINTEST positive on the First Response when I used the last test I had this morning, 5 days past my expected period. Bizarre.
I'm just glad that there are other brands out there that could easily confirm my suspicions, despite spending a small fortune on pregnancy tests. :-)
Product Review: Most accurate I've found Summary: 5 Stars
I love this pregnancy test. The first time I got pregnant I tried some others and they always confused the hell out of me (phantom plus signs, mixed with negative results from the other tests in the same box, being able to see part of the word "Not" before the word "Pregnant" etc.) And I promise I tool them all acroding to the instructions on the box. I took seven all together before I found this one. This is the only one that gave me a clear positive result! I also used it to discover I was pregnant again recently and I got another clear positive result. Very easy to use, and very clear results. I would definately recomend this to anyone.
Product Review: Not as good as Clearblue Summary: 2 Stars
I took 3 of these tests recently and didn't have any luck. I took them 3 days before, 1 day before, and 1 day after my missed period and they were all negative. I then took a Clearblue digital test and got a positive on the first one. I have used Clearblue before with my first pregnancy and found out on the first try too. For the same price, I will be using Clearblue for the rest of my pregnancies. And yes I used the tests right, and read them right. Not sure how I could misread it- one line is negative, 2 is positive. I even examined it closely to make sure there wasn't a faint second line. Clearly negative when I was indeed pregnant. These might work a while after your missed period, but for me it didn't detect it '5 days before', or even the day after.
