This works very well for me. It is also very sturdy! My two year old threw it on the ground when he found it, and it held together - not even a scratch! But a word of caution, I suggest using it only once per day, at the same time each day. (First thing in the morning before you eat, drink, brush teeth, etc.) Last cycle, I was using it multiple times each day and would get pebbles in the morning but ferns in the afternoon. (I received it towards the end of last month) This cycle I'm using it only once each morning and it is working very well. I've had "pebbles" all month until this morning, day 14, and I can see the "transitional ferns". For me, eating or drinking anything makes it fern, even if I wait a few hours to test. One more thing, the company who sold it has never responded to an email question I sent them after I received it, but they did ship fast when I originally ordered it.

This product worked fine for it's purpose. It takes some getting used to, however. It's agaisnt all reason to look right into a bright light, but that's what you've got to do to see your results. Just relax your eyes and let them focus.
There are a few things the directions didn't include, like you saliva MUST be completely dry. It says to wait at least five minutes, but I have to wait at least an hour. After that, you should see your result. I saw the non-fertile saliva, the transition saliva, and my completely fertile saliva.

I bought this product about 2 years ago, and it worked just as promised. I'd been using ovulation pee tests, but my fertility doc said that these tests generally haven't been tested for women over 35 (which I was), so that explained why they weren't very effective for me. However, the Fertile Focus microscope showed ferning even when the pee test was so faint as to be unclear. I tried licking the image surface, but that didn't produce enough saliva to show any ferning; I ended up taking a drop of saliva out of my mouth and dropping it on the glass surface (not letting my finger touch the glass); I'd then let it dry completely for 30 min or so (going about my morning routine in the meantime) before reading. Although the ferning may appear more than just the day you ovulate, you're fertile the days surrounding ovulation as well, since sperm can live for several days while on its journey. So the fact that I saw ferning more than 2 days/mo wasn't a concern for me. I had no scratches despite daily rinsing and then gently dabbing with a towel. I had no difficulty using this product, and I think it's definitely worth the money, especially for women over age 35 who may find the pee tests to be difficult to use or interpret.Product Review: Works fine for me

I think those who have trouble seeing this aren't using it properly. Be sure you remove the entire lense (the WHOLE black piece) without unscrewing it. Just pull it straight out. When it is removed properly, you will be able to see the empty container and the little green light inside. The saliva goes on the flat, uncupped, interior end closest to the light. To clean, just run the lense piece under warm water and let air dry until next use. You can check for lint or water residue by holding it up to a regular light.
