Once you learn how to use it, it works great. There is no tricks to it like the ear thermometer. I thew my ear thermometer in the trash. When you have a sick kid you don't want to be trying to pull their ear and hopping it is telling you their correct temperature. I believe this thermometer is just as good as the glass ones our Mom's used, but a lot faster!
