Product Reviews of Exergen Temporal Artery Thermometer MODEL# TAT-2000CProduct Review: Awesome product... once you take the cap off :) Summary: 5 Stars
I first got this and it was reading really really off, like 50F. I then realised that the protector cap was still on. haha. took it off and it works great. Almost always even with the rectal temp. Awesome for night time temp checks when your baby is sleeping. My only issue is the beeping but it's suppose to, it lets you know when the temp is scanned.
Awesome invention! No mom should be without this.
Product Review: BEST BABY CARE PRODUCT Summary: 5 Stars
The Exergen has to be the best baby product invented. Ever been awake wondering how high your feverish sleeping child's temp is but afraid to wake her checking? No problem!
The ONLY complaint (which still doesn't prevent me from giving this product a 5 rating) is that there is no backlight. You have to move to a lit area in the dark to read the result. Also, when first using, it is best to test your scanner when there is no fever. I find that 98.6 is not always a consistent baseline. Learn each person's base temp before the fever begins.
IMPORTANT - if the patient has a hot forehead due to sunburn and you suspect a fever developing, use another non-forehead means to double check. We gave our child fever-reducing medicine only to realize the "sunstroke fever" turned out to be heat from sunburn on the skin itself. Apply some aloe vera, wait, and then check when the skin has had a chance to recover a bit. Double check with alternate thermometer.
Of course, I also find that the "lip test" is great too. An old pro taught it to me. If you touch your lips to your child's forehead, you can easily tell if the heat you felt with your hand is fever or just a warm body. I can almost as accurately predict the temperature with the lip test, but always use my Exergen forehead scan to confirm. :)
Product Review: BKF, Physician assistant Summary: 4 Stars
Good product, easy to use. It gives a consistant temp when tested multiple times on the same person. I bought it to use at home and on medical mission trips. Have not had it long enough for the test of time so reluctant to give 5 stars until I see how it holds up.
Product Review: Best Thermometer! Summary: 5 Stars
When you have a sick kid the last thing they want to do is sit there with something jambed into their ear or stuck under their tongue. This thermometor takes seconds to record a temp. Run the thermometer across the forhead and that is all you have to do. So simple and easy when you child is wiggling all over the place!
Product Review: Best thermometer yet Summary: 5 Stars
When the kids were infants, we had the in-ear thermometer. Great at the time, but after several years of use it finally died. Kids were older and I didn't want to invest in another in-ear thermometer, so I went with a cheap digital readout oral thermometer. I went through about four of them, each one a bigger piece of junk than the next. I decided to suck it up and get another good one. After a little research, I took a chance on this one. Wow, am I happy I did! It is the easiest, most reliable thermometer I've ever owned, including the in-ear. So easy (after a few practice runs) that my kids can take their own temps now. Don't be worried by the reviewers who can't figure it out...it's very simple to use. Read the directions and practice it a few times. It's amazing!
It's also ten dollars cheaper at amazon compared to my local Walgreens.
