Product Reviews of Emerita Pro-Gest Natural Progesterone Cream, Paraben-Free, 4-Ounce TubeProduct Review: I will NOT go without my Pro-Gest!!! Summary: 4 Stars
Pro-Gest is a wonderful product. I use it for peri-menopausal symptoms. I notice a huge difference in my moods when I am NOT using this product. Pro-Gest helps to balance my moods and take the edge off of the pre-menstrual irritability. I also do not experience pre-menstrual migrain headaches when I'm using Pro-Gest. I have tried other brands and purchased some cheap kinds at the grocery store, but they have absolutely no affect on me- a total waste of money. I started taking Pro-Gest because I read about it in a book by Dr. Christiane Northrup. My only negatives regarding the product are that occasionally I get a tube of Pro-Gest that is different in consistency and doesn't feel like it is working as well as normal... maybe it's not as fresh? Don't know, but I can tell a difference. This is rare, so not enough of a negative to keep me from continuiing to purchase it. Also, I am on auto-order and I have to watch the price of the product because amazon.com changes it periodically and it will go up quite a bit for auto-order and I have to research the site and find it cheaper (same company, same product) until they bring the price down on auto-order again. Wish I didn't have to bother with that, but it's worth the effort because the product really works!
Product Review: Immediate relief of perimenopausal symptoms Summary: 5 Stars
Wow...I can't believe that I struggled so long before discovering this cream. I am 46 and I've had insomnia, night sweats, exhaustion, irregular periods and foggy thinking for nearly 5 years and was at the end of my rope. My symptoms would vary in severity at different times "of the month". The past year has been horrible and I noticed an immediate aging of my skin as well. I read that a lack of progesterone can accelerate the aging process and that natural progesterone can reverse the aging process (not reverse the damage already done to your skin). After searching for relief I came across this cream and decided to try it...IT IS A MIRACLE. I no longer suffer from insomnia or night sweats and I can think clearly again. I feel normal and can function again. Being able to get a good nights sleep is an amazing feeling.
Prior to starting the cream I went to my doctor for bloodwork and had my hormones checked. Everything came back normal. From surfing of the internet I later found out that the best time to check your hormones is around day 22 of your cycle and the saliva test is the most accurate. I was on day 3 of my cycle and I KNEW that there was no way that my hormones were normal, so I went ahead and started the cream anyway. When I first started the cream I used the "pea size" amount that was suggested 2x a day. I slept like a rock and had one minor night sweat for the first two days. I also had mild headaches and gained 4 lbs of water retention, so I decided to cut the amount in half after a few days and the headaches did not return and the water weight dropped off in a day. No night sweats since and I still sleep well. Maybe "pea size" refers to baby peas and I was using too much. I started the cream on day 8 of my cycle as recommended. I have not gotten my period yet, so I can't comment on whether or not it will help regulate it. I was getting my period every 18 days or less and I'm on day 17, but I don't feel like it's coming yet.
In the past year I haven't had the energy to workout (previously I was a gym fanatic) and I'm happy to say that I started back to the gym after a couple of days of use of this cream and have been going every other day and feel fantastic. The way that I feel now is not a placebo effect - you can't rid yourself of perimenopause symptoms with a placebo. Any woman experiencing those symptoms knows that they are not in your head. I'm on auto-ship now!
Product Review: It helped me Summary: 4 Stars
After going through years of hormone influx and muliple birth control pills at 33 I find that this has helped many of my symptoms. At least the exhaustion and mood swings. I can definately tell the difference when I'm not on it. My Endocrinologist recommended it to me and my naturalpathic doctor told me to stay on it all the time because of the improvements it has made on me. Though I take many medicines and supplements and contribute my well being to the combination. I feel they have all helped with my hormonal issues, but definately the cream has made a significant impact.
Product Review: It worked for me Summary: 5 Stars
I am 27. I have always had very irregular periods and wonky PMS. After getting off yasmin, my period did not come at all for 5 months. I started using the Emerita cream twice daily, and my period started about 3 days later. I still had bad PMS (moody, tired, headache, cramps), but my period started, so I count it as a win here. My friend said I might have lost a few pounds after using this cream, but I honestly didn't notice any weight loss.
Product Review: Just be careful.... Summary: 3 Stars
As long as I was mensturating it seemed to work fairly well. Mainly just being able to sleep better. After reading most of Dr. Lee's book though I found that where he thinks these creams are the answer to life I don't agree. I recommend not taking the large dosage (or even small) that he and others prescribe. That is the tricky part is finding the right dosage.
I reached a point in using these creams at a low dosage (smaller than a size of a pea) once every other day off and on for six months, that I was so sleepy I couldn't function and something just didn't feel right. I would roar like a lion in my head, I felt very aggressive and irritable. And like the other post mentioned, I'd get period cramps. When I quit using the cream I felt better...I really think (and doing reasearch) that it can build up in the system fairly quickly.
Hormones fluctuate a lot in perimenopause and to say these creams are the answer to it all isn't correct. If you want to check out an interesting site look at askapatient and progesterone. It will show the severe side effects people can get using these creams and also the prog pill is listed in here too.
