Product Reviews of Electric shaver battery BT-2AA.Product Review: New life for and old shaver Summary: 5 Stars
My husband's Norelco electric shaver wouldn't hold a charge. Because he had just purchased new heads for it we thought about sending it to a repair center until I came across this battery at Amazon. My husband was able to easily install the battery since he owns a soldering tool. The shaver works like new and we saved money! Thanks Amazon!
Product Review: Norelco Shaver Battery Summary: 5 Stars
The unit was received promptly. Its a shame that Norelco designs a shaver with a battery that normally would have to go to a shop , to them or thrown away. The 2 batteries are removed via un-solder and replaced the same way. If your pretty handy with a soldering pencil you can master this pretty well. Works great, very long battery life between charges. No complaint with battery pack. The only bitch I have is still Norelco. This unit could of just as easily been designed to have snap in AAA batteris (which is all the replacements are but they are soldered in)
Product Review: Norelco batteries Summary: 3 Stars
Product is ok and seems well made but I can not speak to it's performance as it requires a soldering iron to install and I do not have access to one at the moment.
Product Review: Sodering Required Summary: 2 Stars
I have no issue with the battery; I would have liked to have known before hand that the installation was a bit tricky. Do not expect a quick fix; you don't just change out these batteries like any old AA or AAA. You have to remove the old ones and solder in the new ones. So if you don't own a soldering iron and don't feel inspired to learn a new skill, I would suggest buying a new shaver all together.
Product Review: Work fine but not easy to replace Summary: 4 Stars
My older 965RX shaver has been sitting in the drawer for over a year because the battery was dead. I have been using my Panasonic ES728 daily for the last few years. The Norelco OEM battery cost is about $20 and I was hesitant to get one after I opened up the 965RX and saw that the battery was soldered onto the board. Finally I run across this battery for about $5 plus shipping, I took the plunge and ordered one. It takes a Torx screw driver to open the 965RX back and I take out the IC board from the connector to the LCD/switch board. I used the dual heat solder iron at high heat (30W) to melt the solder on the board to remove the old battery. You can use the desolder gun but I prefer to use a metal pick to pry up the tabs from the board while the solder is still soft. Pull the old battery out after the tabs are free from the board. Put the new battery tabs into the same slots and apply new solder with low heat (15W) setting. The 965RX is now charged in 1 hour, the LCD show the battery status and it works just fine. I cannot say how long this set of battery will last as compared to the OEM (which lasted more than 5 years) but it looks like it holds charge for at least 8-12 days worth of shaving. I prefered the Norelco when my beard is a bit longer when I miss shaving a day. The Panasonic shaver is better for shorter beard and it is also washable. However, this battery gives life back to my trusty Norelco for a few more years and now I may need a new set of cutter. I could have purchase a new Norelco for about $40-80 but the quality is not even close to this old 965RX.
