I really haven't looked that hard in the nearby stores you might think of, but couldn't find back scratchers at the places I did. One place told me they get stuff like that for the holidays for gifts. Soooo, I hunted amazon.com and decided to take a chance. People I've talked with think that bamboo IS the way to go, which these are. Sure, there are a couple of splinters but no bit deal. Also, my hubbie put a 1/4" bit on his drill press and made a hole on each of them to hang them up; I'm going to put a thin rope on mine.
I'm thinking that stores really need to carry this; it's so hard to find decent personal care items. Speaking of which, check out my other review I'm about to post about another item, somewhat related. I'm so glad I finally bought these scratchers. good job amazon! This is a big bulky scratcher. Also, the pack of 4 I received were similar to the picture, but there are holes cut into the handle and these crappily made nubby wheel roller things are inset. They could be considered a "feature" if they weren't so pointless and ineffective. They also make it kinda hard to hold onto the thing. The finish on one side is marginally acceptable, but on the back side of a couple they're poorly sanded and I'm concerned that they'll snag certain fabrics. For the price, I'm not bothering to send them back, but I would certainly recommend against buying them.Product Review: Ohhhhhhhh man that feels good.

Phenomenal deal... One by the bed, one by the couch, one at work, and one spare.. Plenty long enough to get all the hard to reach spots on your back. Feels sturdy, and I think they will last!
Plus, my wife has one less need to take care of. I think she figured that out when she ordered me this set for Christmas! Ha!
