Product Reviews of ENT Diagnostic Kit - 3.25V Otoscope, Ophthalmoscope, E.N.T Diagnostic Kit

Product Review: EXCELLENT!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Actually I am a Family Nurse Practitioner student and I am currently at the Physical Examination And History taking course. I was required to have an ENT diagnostic kit and I brought this one...it is excellent! The light bulb is just brighter than I believed and the case is made of a strong material. In fact this product is of the best quality. R.

Product Review: Excellent value for the money spent
Summary: 5 Stars

This is an exceptionally nice kit especially when considering it's cost and the cost of other diagnostic kits on the market. This is the second kit I have purchased for my clinic. It includes a very nice otosocpe that is bright and works really well. The ophthalmoscope is pretty basic in design but it does everything I need it to do in my family practice. It has a nice bent arm transilluminator that includes pharyngeal mirrors that have come in handy on several occasions. It has an adapter for the otoscope that allows for use of disposable specula (this is a must). It comes with a reuseable metal tongue blade which is worthless but I have disposable wooden ones available. (whats up with a re-useable tongue blade?).It has an expandable nasal retractor that attaches to the otoscope head which has also come in handy on several occasions when needing to peer into the nostrils and sinus area.
Overall the kit has served me well and is of excellent quality. Only problem I have had was a bulb that burned out on my otoscope 2 months after receiving the first one I purchased. I called the company and they immediately sent me out a new bulb no questions asked.

Product Review: Excellent value for the price I paid
Summary: 5 Stars

I really feel like I got my money out of this set. This is the second one I am purchasing for my practice. The otoscope is excellent. It is halogen and very bright. It comes with reuseable specula as well as a disposable specula adaptor attachment that allowed me to use disposable specula that came with it as well as Welch Allyn type which I already have at my office. The disposable specula fit excellent on the attachment and I can see every bit as well into the ear as I can with an older Welch Allyn Otoscope I use in another one of my exam rooms. The ophthalmoscope is just ok. It is not as good as a Welch Allyn that I have with my other set. It doesn't have any of the red lights or green lights or other bells and whistles but I never use the bells and whistles anyway. It does focus adequately on the retina if you do your exam in a darkened room but it just isnt quite up to the standards of a Welch Allyn. In my practice I rarely dilate a pupil and use an ophthalmoscope mainly to magnify and check a cornea or check a pupilary reflex so it really isnt a biggie for me. The otoscope comes with a very nice attachment for reflecting light and seeing into the oro-pharynx and nares. It also comes with a metal tongue depressor that I find completely useless. What is up with a metal tongue depressor in this day and age anyways? Overall for the price I paid and when compared to a Welch Allyn set I consider this a really good value especially since the otoscocpe is the main diagnostic instrument I need in my practice. The other instruments are nice as well and I have them available when I need them but for the most part I only use them occasionally. When you do need a lighted little mirror to look deep into the oro-pharynx or a lighted specula to open up and see deep into the nasal cavity you do need them and are glad they are available. Even if it is once a year you still want that ability when you need it. Also the replacement bulb I purchased for the first kit I purchased only cost me $7 compared to around $40 for my Welch Allyn set. Overall value you cant beat this set.

Product Review: Excellent!

This is an excellent buy...I researched many product sites and this one was the best. The equipment is sturdy and complete.

Product Review: Good Value, but don't expect exceptional functionality
Summary: 4 Stars

The ophthalmoscope and otoscope are interchangeable heads for a single handle. The luer lock mechanism for attaching them is nice, and the handle is solid. I personally had trouble seeing the eardrum with the lens on the otoscope; images were only in focus around ~0.5 cm from the tip of the speculum. If you don't wear glasses the optics might work better for you.
