Customer Review: Does the Job, But...

The bench arrived quickly and without box damage, but I was dismayed to see that, despite the product description that it is easy to set up, it had to be completely assembled with many long bolts, nuts and washers. It would have been a considerable task for most people, especially if there were not a proper ratchet wrench available, but with my disabilities, it was a 3-hour, extremely difficult and frustrating chore.
The bench has brass push buttons with springs with which to adjust the height of the legs, and apparently a button had fallen into a leg, for it rattled back and forth as I manipulated the construction. However, all of the legs had their buttons, so it must have occurred at the manufacturer. HOWEVER, when I finally got to the point of adjusting the legs, a button did recede too far and did not pop back out to lock the leg, but moved down from its hole. It was only with the aid of a narrow-blade screwdriver and lots of luck that I got it back into position and locked. If I had not been able to do that, the bench would have been unusable!
DO NOT push the buttons too far!
Otherwise, keep in mind that the legs inside the bathtub will probably have to be shorter than those outside, due to the additional height of the tub floor over the bathroom floor. I did not think of that and had to take the bench back out of the tub and deal with the treacherous buttons again. Because the adjustments are so far apart, the bench is not level, but slightly higher inside the tub, so that I feel as if I'm sitting on a just a bit of a tilt.
Also, the floor of my particular tub slopes a bit toward the drain, so that the leg closest to the drain is about a quarter of an inch too short, causing the bench to wobble like a chair with a short leg. Fortunately, the squishy rubber tips compensate for the wobble once weight is put on the bench, so it feels fairly sturdy while in use.
I bought this bench because it was relatively affordable, and it serves the purpose for which it's offered. Had the design of the legs' adjustment been better and the setup easier, I would have given it another star or two.
