Product Reviews of Duracell Rechargeables StayCharged AAA Batteries, 4-Count

Product Review: 4 packs: two white tops, two black tops
Summary: 4 Stars

See customer images for explanation of white/black tops...

I recently bought 4 packs... the AAAs I received were white tops (supposedly eneloops) and the AAs I received were black tops (supposedly rayovacs)... I don't know too much about rechargeable batteries, but from what I'd previously read online, I was hoping for all white tops...

I gave 4 stars because I got half black tops, but haven't actually used either yet...

Product Review: An eneloop by any other name...

I was only half-right when I boldly proclaimed that "Duracell Pre Charged AAA are rebranded Sanyo eneloop cells" in my original review. It turns out that the first batch of Duracell AAA cells I bought from Amazon are made in Japan, and those are identical to eneloop (both mechanically and electrically). But lately I bought some more Duracell AAA from a warehouse club. Those are made in China, and they are identical to the Rayovac Hybrid (see my scan in the Customer Images section). Note that the Rayovac Hybrid AAA has an average capacity of about 780mAh (compared to about 830mAh for eneloop AAA), so is not as good a value.

[Original review follows]

Judging from similarity of technical specifications and physical shapes of (+) and (-) terminals, I am convinced that the Duracell Pre Charged AAA cell is actually Sanyo Eneloop AAA underneath a different wrapper. Therefore all the good things you heard about eneloop apply to Duracell 'Pre Charged', too.

My own testing has shown that the average capacity of eneloop and Duracell AAA cell is slightly above the claimed 800mAh. The Rayovac Hybrid AAA is usually cheaper, but its capacity is slightly below 800mAh. Both brands are able to retain at least 85% of their charge after three months of storage. Just pick whichever brand is on-sale, and you can't go wrong (but don't foget to factor in shipping cost in your consideration).

Also please be reminded that as long as you get a good 'smart' charger like the Duracell Mobile Charger CEF23DX2, you can use it to recharge any brand of rechargeable NiMH AA/AAA cellls. It is not necessary to only use a SANYO charger to recharge SANYO eneloop cells, for example.

One small problem with the Duracell 'Pre Charged' cell is that: it looked too similar to the well-known 'Copper Top' alkaline cell. So there is a good chance that people may mistaken it for a disposable cell. Personally, I prefer the distinctive-looking white case of the eneloop cell.

Product Review: Astounding Charge Capacity
Summary: 5 Stars

These batteries are amazing compared to the Eveready Energizers I was using previously. And not just a little better, as the Energizers were suppposedly 2500mAh, compared to these Duracells that are 2000mAh, yet these Duracells last for weeks and weeks in my Apple Wireless Mouse, compared to only a few days with the Energizers. And I have several different sets of Energizers that all have the same pathetic charge capacity. So go figure. The percentage indicator in my computer starts in the high 80% range, and then comes down to the 50% range in about a day or two, but then lasts for weeks until it gets down to the 20% range. Never seen anything like this kind of quality in a battery. If you're looking for a battery to last longer, these are the ones by a factor of 10 or 20 times longer.

Product Review: Awesome. Cordless phone back to new
Summary: 5 Stars

Can't go wrong with these *pre-Charges* batteries. No need ot install in my cordless handsets and wait 24 hours to charge it before I can use it!

Now my Cordless phones handsets are like new and now I don't have to buy a new cordless phone set!!!
