Product Review: Best kept secret

These cells are the best kept secret in the industry. They are used by professionals in sound, medical, marketing and maintenance fields. Duracell markets them differently because they don't want to cannibalize the sales of their consumer Copper-Top cells, otherwise they are exactly the same. What you get is no-frills packaging-24 batteries in a reclosable cardboard box. Duracell sells these batteries in bulk to industry, using less packaging and a shorter supply chain and that means lower prices. They make up for their lower margin in volume.
I have a background in professional sound and am an amateur photographer. In pro sound, you only really use a pair of batteries for a few studio sessions (using wireless mics) or one concert show. Sure, you're throwing away a perfectly good set of 20% used batteries (if that) but it's much better than the risk of a wireless microphone cutting out in front of 2000 fans, or the salesperson's lapel microphone cutting out in front of an entire product convention! The low cost allows us to simply toss them without worry. As an photographer, I've used everything in my speedlights. I've used the normal NiMh rechargeables, Ni-Cds, Eneloops, Duracell pre-charged NiMh cells (which hold a charge like Eneloops and are slightly cheaper, BTW) and nothing compares to a fresh set of alkaline cells. I get more shots with faster refresh times than any rechargeable. Lithium cells are somewhat better but they aren't worth the cost to me. I have to admit, when carrying the camera around my neck for hours on-end, the lithiums are much lighter and balance out the camera better, but I digress.
Yes, you can buy Copper-Tops at Costco or Sam's Club for slightly more than the ProCells. They run about the same as the generic alkalines but they are genuine Duracell cells and you know they are good. If you have Amazon Prime these are a very good deal. If you pay for shipping, I admit the cost between these cells and just buying Copper-Tops at Costco may be a wash.

These batteries are a very good choice for an inexpensive alkaline. Heavy duty batteries, are not cost effective because although cheaper, they have a very short run time. To get the best bang for your buck, go for alkalines like these.
The "Procell" designation is basically Duracell's way of marking these batteries as ones intended for industrial applications. They make them as a separate line so they won't directly compete with their consumer lines.
My experience is that these batteries do not last quite as long as the top consumer lines from Duracell and Energizer. However, they are within 10-20% (depending on the application), and are considerably cheaper. So, they are much more cost effective.
Unless you are using them in an application where it is difficult to change the batteries, I recommend going with these instead of spending more.

I bought these batteries to use w/ my xbox remote but did not work most were nearly dead right out of the box. Some only worked on smaller remote and some kids toys. Out of the whole box only 4 batteries worked.
