I'm 52 years old and have had bouts of insomnia with and without allergies for a LOT of years. I've had many, many prescription and over-the-counter meds to try to help me out with these problems. But this medication (Benadryl or this generic diphenhydramine, either one) is the best for both drying up my allergy symptoms and helping me drift off to sleep, for a good night's sleep. I've used it in quantity for years and have never worried about side effects, although I'm careful about how much I take since I have other health problems. We use this medication for our dog, it is so much easier to buy the 50 mg capsules so we only have one pill to deal with since she has to take so many others.Product Review: More diphenhydramine than you'll ever need.

As someone who suffered from excessive sneezing I've tried a lot of the other OTC remedies with no luck. It's when I decided to give diphenhydramine a try that I don't have to worry about huge protracted bouts of sneezing in which I wind up rubbing my nose raw from all the tissues.
While $4 for 100 25mg caps is quite a deal from the local WallyWorld this 1000-count container of 50mg caps will save me some money. I figure that's about a year and a half of diphenhydramine for my needs.
The only downside is that diphenhydramine knocks me right out. So it's not a surprise that this is also used as a sleep aid. So to counteract the drowsiness I simply take it at night. I wake up okay and don't have to worry about sneezing my head off.
Compared to the other remedies this is far less expensive and it's great to not have to worry about my allergies.

Why waste your money on Benadryl or store off-brand? Yes, you buy a lot, but if you have allergy issues, it gets used up before expiration. And even if you don't, you STILL save money over the others.Product Review: as promised
