If you suffer from lactose intolerance (LI), this is an excellent product. I have fairly severe LI, so much so that I avoided eating pizza or almost any other food items which had a large dairy content. Lactaid helped with some of the worse symptoms with smaller amounts of dairy, but did not cure all the symptoms. Since I started taking this product, I am able to eat much more dairy. Per the instructions, I take one per day every morning. This stops me from being affected by 'hidden dairy'. If I take 2 of the pills, then I can pretty much eat as much dairy as I want with little or no symptoms. If you are unsure if this product would work for you, go to the digestive advantage website and you can order a free 8 pill sample.
As a side note (and something I did not know before purchasing the product), the instructions say to take 1 pill per day (which I do).

I love this product!!
For years I had used lactase and other pills that I had to remember to take right before eating food with milk in it. But sometimes you eat something that you didn't realize contained milk, or butter, and then you're sick. OR you don't estimate the *amount* of milk right, don't take enough pills and you're sick. Or you start taking six pills no matter what (to be safe) and you're forking over a lot of money.
And you know what? Sometimes I didn't want to pop a ton of pills (and explain why) when out to lunch with...a new boss, a date, a new friend, etc. etc.
I've taken this every morning for the last two years or so. I take it and forget it for the day. Haven't gotten sick...ever...in that time period!
This stuff is the best!!!!

I am so happy that I found this product. Every morning I take one of these pills, and if I feel like I need it, I'll take another one later in the day. Amazon has the best price for this, what a great deal. I figured out that I am lactose intolerant in high school, however, I know that it developed some time in middle school. Be aware that this is how lactose intolerance usually occurs. One cannot be lactose intolerant at birth, to my knowledge. I came to realize I am lactose intolerant because I got acidic and/or liquid stool often. Milk has never given me much trouble though, so my bowl of cereal every morning could only be a problem if there was something later, such as a bit of cream cheese. Cream cheese is [was] my nemesis.
Anyway, I took 'fast act' pills for a while but carrying them around is a pain, and sometimes they didn't work so well. When I stumbled upon this product, I was overjoyed to try it, c'mon, it's not that expensive. It took maybe about a week to start really working, but now I just take a pill every morning and I CAN EAT ANYTHING I WANT ALL DAY!!!! These pills changed my life. I RARELY suffer from the symptoms aforementioned.
One thing that really bugs me is the ridiculous packaging they come in. They are individually wrapped... Are you serious? Something that people need to take every day are not in a standard pill jar? What a joke, what a waste. This drives me crazy, but this is the only con of this product. I am prepared to pay for these for the rest of my life.
In summation, if you are lactose intolerant, or suffer from similar symptoms but aren't sure, try this stuff out. But, give it a good week before you make a judgment, the 1-2 days Digestive Advantage tells you may not be enough time.
