Product Reviews of Dial Corporation 76Oz 20 Mule Team Borax Laundry PretreaterProduct Review: Absolutely essential! No more musty odor. Summary: 5 Stars
During a conversation with several neighborhood ladies, the subject of laundry problems arose. Towels with a definite UNfresh odor was a common problem. Stepping out of the shower, clean and fragrant, only to dry off with a smelly towel is counterproductive. I researched the issue and found the following advice:
1. Use towels only once or twice. (already doing that)
2. Leave washer door open after removing load, allowing it to air dry. (already doing that)
3. Switch from liquid to powder detergent. (don't ask me why, but it works -- I use HE for my front loading machine)
4. Add borax to the wash.
Borax? That stuff my grandmother used? YES! Why did this stuff go out of style? It's fantastic!
This isn't on the shelves at my regular grocery store, so thank heavens for Amazon.
Addendum: a splash of vinegar in the rinse cycle instead of liquid fabric softener works great.
Product Review: Awesome Little Product Summary: 5 Stars
We didn't know about Borax until our elderly neighbor told us that she used it to clean all of her clothes and her children's clothes (from infancy onward). We had been complaining about the price of baby detergent and when she told us this, we immediately made the switch! It's perfect because it's fragrance and dye free.
It's saving us so much money on baby laundry alone!
And it's so multi-faceted. It can do so much (kill bugs, clean tubs etc) and costs so little!
We've always got a box handy these days.
Product Review: Best Cleaner Summary: 5 Stars
Borax might be old fashioned, but it is the best cleaner I have every used! And it is all purpose...you can use it in every room for practically every cleaning need including dishes and in your laundry! The nice thing about Borax is that it doesn't have any perfumes but instead naturally deordorizes while it cleans. I have used 20 Mule Team Borax also to remove stains from fabrics effectively. I have also used it instead of harsh cleansers for my sinks, stove, and countertops. Overall, I recommend 20 Mule Team Borax as an economical, higly effective, and natural cleaner.
Product Review: Borax - stops insect reproduction and growth Summary: 4 Stars
I once spoke to an entomologist about using a Borax ingredient to kill roaches, and such. He, being a specialist, informed me that Borax doesn't kill the insects, but makes them sterile, when consumed. Hence, once the living generation dies, there becomes fewer and fewer because they are unable to reproduce.
The recipe was a combination of Borax, onion, apple - rolled into small balls, and hidden behind furniture. However, this was poisonous to animals. I don't know if it is the Borax which is poisonous, or just the onion. (Onions are deadly poisonous to dogs and cats).
Product Review: Borax cheaper at Walmart Summary: 5 Stars
Call around to your local Walmarts to see which one carries this and you'll save on the shipping, plus it'll be cheaper. I just bought this for $2.98 at my local Walmart.
