I grew up watching my grandmother use Fels-Naptha soap in her regular laundry duties. It is hard to believe that such a fine product is not available generally in stores. Believe it or not, I bought this product as a surprise for my wife since many times, she will say "I wish I could buy Fels-Naptha soap". We have many good products daily, but it does seem that many old products could be re-introduced to consumers.
Product Review: GREAT FOR POISON OAK OR IVY TOO

I've never tried this as a laundry soap or stain remover but can emphatically state that is does miracles with Poison Ivy or Poison Oak. Just place your finger under the water faucet and make a paste with the soap. Rub it all over the area affected. It will dry it up and take the itch out immediately! I am very allergic to Poison Ivy / Oak and have tried every medication, shots, etc., and highly rank this as one of my favorites...if not my favorite!Product Review: Good Ol' Country Folk Know...

... that when the job is tough, this is the soap to use, on the principle that 'nasty' drives out 'nasty.' The smell and feel of this stuff, and even the color, hauls me back to childhood like the odor of madeleines transported Marcel Proust... and I'll bet you never expected THAT simile, did you?
I didn't really expect to find Fels Naptha for sale in the cyber arcades, but here it is. I searched for it just to recommend using it as an antidote to poison oak/ivy. Unless you've scratched the skin enough to see blood, it will wash away the allergenic resin even three or four hours after contact. And whaddya know, a previous reviewer has already offered the same testimonial. Well, let's see... Baseball moms! This is the soap to use for both grass stains and pine tar on your kids' unis!
Now if I only had stock in the company....

I use Fels naphta to make my own laundry and dishwasher soaps. It has become very hard to find. I was so happy to find an opportunity to stock up. If you aren't familiar with Fels Naptha, it is a rather hard, low sudsing laundry soap. It dissolves well in warm and hot water, takes a bit longer in cold water. It has a distinctive scent and yellow color. One bar of Fels Naptha costs more than a typical bar of body soap, but ground up and mixed with Washing Soda and Borax it makes enough laundry soap to last as long as 2 or 3 bottles of detergent, and in my experience, works better, and is biodegradable/all natural. This is one of the very few "green" products that actually saves money rather than costing more to use.
