Product Review: great for stains

there are two products I use to treat stains on laundry: soilove (for perspiration stains) and fels naptha (for everything else). this big bar of yellow soap will get out pretty much any stain. I have used it on blood that it well set (dried on about a week prior to treating), and after applying this and letting it sit for 10 minutes before throwing it in the washer, it came out completely. it's gotten out food stains, dirt/mud stains, etc. again w/ just treating and letting sit for 5 or 10 minutes before putting in the washer. amazing stuff. I used to make my own laundry detergent w/ this stuff as well, and it worked at least as well as commercial detergents. my only complaint is the scent, which is why I only gave it 4 stars; in my home made detergent the scent of this would linger, and I hated it (kind of smelled like funky salsa once the clothes were out of the dryer), but w/ pretreating I haven't noticed that. I just tried this in a recipe for home made laundry detergent
1 bar Fels Naptha grated/shredded
1 cup A&H SUPER WASH SODA 55 OZ
1 cup Dial #00368 76OZ 20 Mule Team Borax
mix all ingredients and store in a air tight container and use 1 tablespoon at a time.
It got the cloths clean and left them bright and fluffy. leaves no scent. It does not suds up but it does work

This is the most awesome spot remover ever. It has removed spots from items that have been washed and dried many times. A friend told me about it and I could not find it at a store so I ordered here. I cannot praise this enough-I cannot figure out why stores do not stock it-nothing beats it that I have tried and it is a much better price than those fancy store spot removers. Fels-Naptha is the most amazing spot cleaner I have found and it's easy to use! It takes out grass stains, very oily stains, ring around the collar and even orange soda pop that has been on a t-shirt for 2 weeks. Just wet the problem spot and rub the wet soap bar into the bad stain. Once you have the spot all lathered up, rub the fabric too, like how the old fashioned scrub board was used. Throw the clothing in the washing machine. Remember heat sets the stain, so don't put the item in the dryer until you make sure the stain is really gone. Really bad items like fabric yellowed by age may take 2 treatments. I buy some really nice clothes at garage sales and thrift stores then treat the spots with Fels Naptha. It helps me have a fabulous wardrobe I wouldn't buy otherwise. This soap even works on silk. I find breaking the bar in half helps make it easier to use. This Fels-Naptha is way hard to place on the napkin. After several tries, my friend had to step in and help me do it. I recommend this Fels-Naptha for some light duty work, but if you're looking to place it on a napkin, I'd recommend you try elsewhere.
