Product Review: Can't compare to similar products but it seems to work

My dentist recommended a night guard but he recommends lots of expensive stuff so I was in no hurry to spend hundreds of dollars on one from him. I figured, for this price, it wouldn't hurt to try something. Based on the reviews for this product I decided to place an order. It took me two fitting attempts to get it "comfortable". I don't remember the exact instructions but I think two or three attempts might be all you get to get it "right". You have to boil it so I assume it loses some moldability with repeated dips into the hot water. Two guards, of different sizes, come with this kit.

I bought this for my wife who has severe bruxism at night. Her insurance didn't cover the $400 for a professional guard that the dentist offered, so we looked at some cheaper options. First we tried a moldable mouth guard from the local sports store, but it created abrasions on her gums and was tossed after a few weeks. Next we tried this one -- after a few weeks of use, she has bitten right through it. In addition, the molding didn't go that well; don't bite down as hard as you can when you're doing it. Now that she's under different insurance, I think we're just going to get a professionally made guard this time.Product Review: Comfortable and Effective Night Guard

I had a $300 custom night guard from my dentist which was hard plastic and not very comfortable due to saliva collecting in the guard behind my front teeth. I tried this inexpensive guard and was able to use the smaller size which is effective even though it doesn't cover all the way to the back teeth. Still it is snug and effective in keeping my teeth apart and it is soft and comfortable. Try this and try the smaller size first. Bought this guard and another guard that cost only around 5 bucks and the 5 buck guard was much better than this one that I paid over $20 bucks for. I followed the instructions on the boiling to get the proper fit but the guard did not take the correct shape and ended up like a big mess of stuck together plastic. Tried to heat and shape again but it was like working with hot plastic. This guard is in the trash and I am using the less costly guard which works great. The other guard is called The Grind Guard and is also sold on amazon.Product Review: DO NOT USE THIS! BAD FOR TEETH AND JAW!

This is the exact opposite of what you want to use for a night guard! The plastic is far too soft and allows your teeth to dig in and apply pressure to both your teeth and your jaw. This can cause far more harm than good! A night guard needs to be made of hard plastic that allow your teeth to slide freely across each other without applying force and pressure against each other. Stay away!
