Product Reviews of DenTek Comfort Fit NightguardProduct Review: You'll either love it hate it Summary: 2 StarsI have used DenTek Custom Comfort Nightguard- Blue for years and absolutely love it. Yes, it does need to be replaced every few months but it fits more comfortably than The Doctor's Night Guard Advanced Comfort or even a professional dental appliance. Because of this I decided to give Dentek's new design a try in spite of it being almost twice the price of their regular nightguard.
I can see the apparent advantage to using this if you have braces since there are few options available and, yes, you will feel like you are going to swallow it. But the reason I went back to their regular nightguard is because it actually hurt to use. I made sure I followed the instructions to the letter and only pulled the two blue guards to where they extended on to my rear molars but not past them. It wasn't the top of the guards that caused problems, though, it was the sides.
You can see in the picture that the guards are 'L' shaped and fit over and down the sides of your teeth. For me they extended down past my gumline so that every time I bit down they pressed inward against my gums to the point where it hurt. The harder I bit down, the harder it hurt. Not very comfortable.
In addition, the skinny little plastic connector drops down into a 'V' shape that presses against the gumline on the front canine teeth. Once again, after things started rubbing against the gumline (it doesn't stay in place at all) those two points would scrape against my gumline until it hurt. I wouldn't recommend buying this unless you've got big Bucky Beaver teeth, or you're Dracula, maybe a chipmunk.
Product Review: Love it Summary: 5 StarsThis is the only guard my husband can wear comfortably. He hasn't swallowed it yet and is a big guy over 6' 3". He does have to replace it about every two months, but it's worth it - it's the only way I can sleep in the same room. This is the one with the blue pads.
Product Review: Better than boil-fit nightguards Summary: 4 StarsI have been grinding my teeth for 15 yrs and I've mostly used the boil-fit night guards to treat my bruxism. I recently picked up the Dentek comfort-fit and was surprised that it actually stayed in my mouth and did the trick. Unfortunately, after 3-4 months of using this... the access plastic has irritated my gums and they began to bleed. The excess plastic is actually quite uncomfortable... I'm going to look for something similar without so much excess plastic (smaller size or profile).

After writing my initial 2 star review, I must say that this mouthguard has been my go-to guard for over a year! It irritated my gums in the beginning but not anymore. And amazingly, I grind a lot but it's still in one piece! It's the most comfortable guard I've owned! So I've upped the review to four stars! My wife just got a nite guard from the dental office and I prefer this one!
Product Review: comfortable but shossy Summary: 3 StarsFinally, an alternative to the expensive Splintek BUT think I'll go through more of these a year since they are so flimsy so probably not saving any money. Very comfortable.
Product Review: Best nightguard I've found Summary: 5 StarsI tried the bulky sport-like version, besides drooling and looking like I had horse teeth I also felt like I was choking. This is so light that after a few minutes I couldn't tell it was there. When I took it out in the morning I missed the feeling of having a relaxed mouth--if I wasn't going to work I would leave it in. I'm a clencher, not a grinder, so I can only vouch for its comfort and effectiveness for clenching.
