Customer Review: CONSTANT ADJUSTMENT REQUIRED! I'M NOT IMPRESSED!

I'm a firefighter/ paramedic/ medical examiner who fell down a flight of stairs which resulted in 2 broken legs, a broken/dislocated big toe, a broken arm, & a torn ACL ligament in 1 knee. Needless to say, I had to come up with one HECK of a story, AKA "LIE" the tell everyone at work who wanted to know what happened to me, & I did a pretty good job of comming up with great explinations. The leg I broke, which also had the dislocated & broken toe, was casted for 16 weeks (4 months). The toe was just put back into the socket & when the cast was applied they made sure that it extended beyond my toes to protect them & let them heal.
After the cast was finally removed & I was put into a walking boot, the DR. & I noticed that my big toe was stil VERY badly deformed. It was actually twisted at an angle, & was sitting under my other toes. The Dr, said that I would need to havre it re-broken, & hav pins & screws put in it. I didn't want to do this because I had just had 8 plated, a rod, & 38 screws put into my lower leg & ankle. I asked if I could buy a splint & give it a trial period before having another surgury, which he agreed to.
I liked the look of this item & the fact that it could be worn along with the waliking boot was a plus. the item arrived VERY QUICKLY, but when I opened the package, I found that the splint didn't match the picture shown. Instead of having sereral toe seperators as shown in the picture, It ONLY had the Big toe peice. That peice needs to be wrapped around the toe, & it needs to be tight, or it just slips around, but the material it's made from streched & with-in the 1st 2 application the material had streched to 2X it origal lengeth. It also would get to tight as the foot swelled( which EVRYONES DO) durring the day, so I was constantly having to re-adjust it. The velcro is way to stong, & it started pulling the material up & damaging the splint. This was also painful because you really have to pull hard for the velcro to release which in turn causes your injured toe to be jerked when the velcrow does let go. the elastic that wraps around the back of your foot also just slips of the secound you take a step & it ends up being a big uncomfortable lump under the arch of your foot. I was really disapointed with the item & how quickly the velcro was destroying the splint due to the constant re-adjustments that I had to make. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone. As for me I'm having surgury next week to re-break & repair my toe :( !!!

This one-size-fits-all splint properly aligns your toe(s), helping relieve pain and pressure due to bunions, hammertoes or Taylor's bunions (bunions that occur at the base of the fifth toe).
