This product is very effective. The bait-blocks come eight to a pack, and are about the size and shape of ice-cubes. They have a bluish-green color (teal, to be exact), and a texture similar to a firm cookie. They do crumble if you squeeze them. They have a pleasant smell, vaguely like a macaroon cookie. This means that it's all but certain that kids and dogs will eat them. They MUST be placed out of their reach! The rats love these. One rat will eat an entire cube single-handed and come back for more. A useful tip. Put a dish of water out for a few days prior to the poison. The rats get thirsty as they die, and this helps to bring their "remains" to a predictable location for disposal. Also, allow for undicoverd remains and their smell. Seek adequate ventilation.
