Product Reviews of Crane Demineralization Filter Cartridge for Crane Frog, Cow, Pig, Panda, Penguin and Elephant Cool Mist Humidifiers

Product Review: Pricey
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought my first one at Amazon but comparison shopped for the next. I'm so glad I checked elsewhere--found them for half the price. I'm a loyal Amazon customer and hate it when they're not even in the ballpark. Oh, well.

Product Review: So far so good....
Summary: 4 Stars

I've read of others whose Crane humidifiers stopped working after a few months. We have hard water so I was afraid of our humidifier failing as well. So far, after 3 months of use with the filter cartridge, our humidifier is still working....

Product Review: Still have lots of white dust
Summary: 2 Stars

I tried the humidifier with and without the filter and cannot tell any difference in dust output. I have these air purifiers in the house and the blades are just as coated in thick white dust after 2 days with the filter than without it. I suppose it'll keep bacteria from building up and deposits from forming (I hope so at least). But the dust is just everywhere! Not too impressed with it.

Product Review: Useful but not great
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought the Crane Penguin humidifier about 2 months ago. The filter arrived about a week later. My experience applies to people using HARD TAP WATER. So far I've found that, although the filter helped with keeping the humidifier a bit cleaner (I clean it once a week with diluted bleach for the tank and vinegar for the base), it only seemed to work to reduce white dust (from hard water minerals) for just over a month, using the humidifier at a low or medium setting. I'm considering using distilled water instead - it might work out cheaper than having to replace the filter every couple of months. I would definitely advise to keep the original cap for the tank and try the humidifier with and without filter.

Product Review: Useful!
Summary: 4 Stars

We bought 2 Crane humidifiers and didn't think our water was hard enough to cause dust issues, so we decided not to order filters at the same time. Unfortunately our machines ended up producing enough of the dust to cause breathing issues for our asthmatic cat and leave a residue on the tanks, so we ordered filters for them about a week later. They have helped a lot! I kept the regular caps per the advice in some other reviews just in case, but we haven't had trouble with these filters at all. The machines still run very well and the filters fit both models (Dragon and Penguin) beautifully. Our only concern is the cost-effectiveness of having to keep these stocked at home, but since we only plan to run the humidifiers in the winter we aren't worrying at that just yet. In the meantime, we have been very happy with the filters!
