Product Reviews of Crane Demineralization Filter Cartridge for Crane Frog, Cow, Pig, Panda, Penguin and Elephant Cool Mist Humidifiers

Product Review: Just OK
Summary: 2 Stars

My advice is to keep the original cap in case you decide this filter is not for you.

It managed to stop mineral deposits from building up further on the side of the resevoir, but the water gained a musty smell after a 15 gallons/three weeks of use. I sanitize with chlorinated water bi-weekly.

It was especially apparent in warm heated rooms. The risk of bacterial growth outweighs the benefits of the filter for me and I do not recommend this product.

Product Review: Makes icky brown water
Summary: 1 Stars

I don't know what this thing was really designed to do but it seems that mostly what it does is fill your dehumidifier with icky brown water.

Product Review: Might be better from local store
Summary: 4 Stars

The product itself is a good product as I've used it prior to purchasing from Amazon. This one arrived and the filter 'stuff' was already starting to crystalize.
The product may not have been as fresh.

Product Review: Not sure if it's doing anything.
Summary: 3 Stars

I got the demineralization filter when I bought my humidifier, since so many people recommend it. Not sure if it's doing anything. I believe I do have hard water, since I see some scales in my humidifier.

Product Review: OK at best
Summary: 3 Stars

We bought the frog humidifier as it went with the decor of our kids room. I didnt realize that nebulizer humidifiers leave the white dust reside that the old heated humidifiers did.

We soaked the filter for about 4 hours in a 32oz glass of water. It turned the water orange. The water in the humidifier tank did not turn orange per say, however some areas at the top of tank do appear to be stained orange after two weeks of use. The packaging says that the orange color is safe, but personally, I would not use it in my childs room if the water in the humidifer was dyed orange. I would continue soaking the filter until it no longer makes the water orange as a precaution.

We used the humidifer for about two weeks without the filter, and did not notice any dust, but purchased the filter as a precaution to prevent it from happening. I cant say that I have noticed any difference as I did not see dust to begin with.

Im not sure how the price compares, as I have not been able to find this in a brick and mortar store. I ordered two from Amazon, and will probably not reorder, unless use without the filter actually does result in a white dust in our childs room.
