I have purchased several of Crane's humidifiers and have thrown several of them away: the crane, two apples. I have 2 elephants and wouldn't buy any of the other models. The elephants put out the maximum amount of humidity with the least amount of problems. The only problem I have had is they leak under the snout to a small extent.
They are easy to clean and we run them 24 hours a day when we are home. I would recommend them, but realize that there is some leaking and you need to put a towel in front of them. I would buy additional elephants if needed.

I ordered this humidifier because I'd read some good reviews, and because it was so darned cute. Also, was replacing another humidifier that required filters, and wanted to go filter-less...didn't mind using distilled water for this.
I'd read that this one emitted a plastic smell at first, but the reviewer stated that the smell went away in a day or so. Hence, I ran it in the living room first, to try to get rid of some of that smell before putting it in my 11 month-old-daughter's room. After a few hours, one of my eyes began burning! I thought it may have been a reaction to the humidifier, which did emit a plastic smell, but I could only smell it up close. So I wasn't sure. The next night, I put it in my baby's room, and within 10 minutes or so, my throat and sinus passages felt constricted and tight, could not breathe well, felt head-achy, my eyes were stinging (although not burning like the night before), and my daughter awoke, crying. I turned it off, and in less that 5 minutes, all my negative symptoms went away, and my baby was back asleep. I aired out the room (which we keep closed to keep the cats out) too. I feel like it was having to breathe in the plastic particles that had us strained, and that continuing to use this humidifier would have negative consequences on my daughter's health. We don't have any serious sensitivity to smells/allergies, or breathing problems, so I was surprised.
It is cute, and was extremely quiet (unlike our other humidifier), but needless to say, I was extremely disappointed, and will definitely be returning this ASAP. Will be ordering filters for the old one...never had those kinds of problems with that one (The First Years American Red Cross). I haven't read all the reviews on this one, but I can't imagine that this hasn't happened to anyone else? Would give zero stars if possible.

I bought this about 5 months ago. It is quiet and runs very well. We did not put the optional filter in it. I just got around to cleaning it. It actually took a while for it to get dirty. Very quick and easy to clean. I hate humidifiers. It seems they all are noisy, inefficient, have costly filters and are ridiculous to clean. I end up tossing them at the end of the season. Not this one. I will clean it and store it. Finally, a humidifier that actually functions as it should - and for a good price. If they'd only make one for a large room...Product Review: Fine

good product. Have never bought a humidifier before but seems to do the trick. Need to replenish every other day. Saw same one at Target (w/o shipping costs obviously) so wished we'd just bought from the store and saved shipping. But product itself is just fine.
