I got this after a long wait since I live out of the US and installed the batteries and expected to finally relax! But lo and behold every time I put the clock down it stopped working! After a lot of fiddling around I discovered that the batteries were not staying put. I put a little of the packing material in side the battery compartment as a cushion and that did the trick.
I'm annoyed that you cant use the light to see the time if you have the sleep timer on. I'm also annoyed that some of the sound sound like tin or remind me of other noises.
The thunder has this fake sound with an annoying static in between the thunder that I guess is supposed to represent rain??? That I was able to remedy by mixing with rainstorm. The white noise is not a flat even sound but rather has an undulating rhythm. When you are trying to relax and you are concentrating on what it is that you are listening to it's not relaxing.
The waterfall and stream sound more like a running toilet that need a shake of the handle and the birds are just plain annoying.
If their is a perfect relaxation machine out there I don't know but this is'nt it.
