Product Reviews of Compact Talking Timer & ClockProduct Review: Second opinion - follow-up Summary: 1 Stars
I first purchased a compact talking timer with its various sounds about 7 years ago and found it enormously helpful. When it finally needed replacement, I bought two new ones a month ago...one for the kitchen and one (pinned to my jacket) for reminding me for all sorts of follow-ups during the day. (ORIGINAL MODEL WAS ENORMOUSLY HELPFUL AND EASY TO USE....--- NEW ONES RECEIVED IN DECEMBER 2010 untrustworthy and almost useless- February 9 2011)
THE TWO NEW ONES MUST BE DEFECTIVE BECAUSE THE TIMERS DO NOT ALWAYS START WHEN REQUESTED, OR WIPE OUT THE TIME INSTRUCTION AND I HAVE TO START OVER AGAIN IN THE ENTRY. NOT TRUSTWORTHY OPERATION.
Product Review: Talking Timer at the model flying field Summary: 5 Stars
I fly electric powered model radio controlled airplanes. To run out of battery when you are flying is a big problem as we fly in the desert and cactus are not too friendly to model planes. The Talking Timer lets me set a flying time and not have to take my eyes off my plane when it announces that I should land.
A lot of my pilot friends have purchased them after seeing / hearing how good they are.
Product Review: Terrible product, horrible instructions - DON'T BUY Summary: 1 Stars
I would not recommend buying this timer. The instructions are very unclear. But even worse - the timer itself is inaccurate. Save your money and do NOT buy this flimsy product.
Product Review: The talking part is very useful Summary: 5 Stars
The talking part is very useful when I am busy with other things and moving around alot, especially for long term timing. It keeps me from forgetting that I have to do someting later. I just bought a second unit for the bedroom. It can have more authority than the snoose alarm.
The voice can be turned off, and 5 alarm sounds can be selected for different meanings. The voice announces each hour until 1 hour is left, then every 10 minutes until 10 minutes are left, then each minute until 1 minute is left, then every 10 seconds until 10 seconds are left, then every second. You separatly set the number of hours, number of minutes, and number of seconds. This means that to set 59 minutes you must push the minute button 59 times rather than a 5 and a 9 as on some timers. But I find this to be only a slight disadvantage. You can keep the memory set at 30 minutes and add minutes (or hours) to it so you never have to push the minute button more than 29 times.
The clock and voice must be quite efficient because the battery lasts a very long time.
This timer only times one thing at a time, so I have other timers for multiple timing. But this one is clearly my favorite. Well designed and well made; a quality item.
Product Review: great to help kids get ready in the morning Summary: 3 Stars
We were running out of ways to get my kids up and ready without alot of nagging and this seems to be working. I set it for the time I want them to be downstairs and it counts down outloud.
What I don't like about it, is that you can not control the volume and the
voice sounds tinny probably because of the small speaker.
Also note that you have to pull down the bottom section to get to some of the features. They don't tell you this in the instructions.
