For some perverse reason, many doctors do not think that nicotine addicts should be allowed to control doses or enjoy alternate sources of nicotine. So please DO NOT tell you doctor of these 8-))
I was a smoker since mid 1960's and have tried nicotine gums, patches and cherry, mint and natural lozenges without success. Everything was very irritating and the lozenges were even causing some gastric reflux and other problems ... aside from tasting incredibly bad ... like very cheap candy at best with a powerful irritant added.
The lozenges are different. They actually taste and smell like cappucino (my wife is VERY jealous) and they are much less irritating (to me a least) than other Commit flavors.
This made quiting remarkably easy and the lozenges were not addicting. I was able to control doses by breaking off bits of the lozenges (against manufacturer's recommendations), reducing each dose to a fraction of a milligram within a week. After 6 weeks I felt no urge to smoke even when in smokey rooms and after 6 months I'm still carrying the lozenges for a sense of security but rarely use them.
Trouble is ... Cappucino flavor is very difficult to find.

I'm 53 and have smoked forever. I have also quit many, many times and tried every "cure" that has been invented. I am not a coffee drinker, but do like an ocassional cappuccinno and these lozenges are the best tasting things I have evr tried. I have emailed the manufacturer and suggested they market these with no nicotine as a maintenance item for former smokers and possibly to garner new business just from their flavor. I have quit for seven weeks now and I believe I will make it for good this time. For anyone thinking of quitting or who has quit and failed... my best advice is: keep trying and everytime you fail give it a few months and try again. Each time you try it "WILL" get easier. Especially when you realize after quiting for months or even years that you have done it before... it makes it that much easier to do it again. Never give up and if you like an occassional cappuccino or latte from Starbucks, try these... you may find it strikes just the right blend as they have for me. Good luck!
