Product Reviews of Coccyx Cushion - Extra Soft - 16" x 13" x 3" to 1.5"Product Review: Very comfy! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought a regular, cheap foam coccyx cushion about 3 years ago when I developed a pilonidal condition. It still helps to take pressure off of my tailbone but doesn't provide much cushion for my ample, yet bony butt. I have a computer job that involves several hours of sitting. Although my old cushion was sufficient, I wanted something softer. The first thing I noticed about this cushion was that it's much denser than my old one. At first when I sat on it I thought it was too firm but after sinking into it for a minute I found it to be quite comfortable! The cover is made of a very soft material and has a zipper for easy removal. I also like that this cushion isn't as wide as my last one so it fits in my car seat better without me having to fight with it to buckle my seat belt.
Product Review: Well, it depends... Summary: 4 Stars
I notice that far over half the reviewers rated this a four-star or better, but several rated it very low. I can't keep from wondering if we're all rating the same cushion. Here's my experience:
There's a world of difference in coccyx cushions. I've had coccygodinia for probably 30 years. I designed my first coccyx cushion myself, before they were generally on the market, and made two of them. One was of 3" firm foam (for my office chair), and it was very helpful. The other was 1" softer foam (for my car), and it wasn't nearly as good.
In the last 3 - 4 years, I've bought two from medical supply places. One is memory foam, and it was expensive (about $40, as I recall), and very helpful, but long rides in the car or using it on a hard chair still becomes uncomfortable after awhile. The other "bought" one was much cheaper (about $20, as I recall), and it is slightly above useless, but not by much.
The lesson, to me, is that quality is always paramount to price, but especially so in coccyx cushions! Based on my experience, there may not be a "five star" on the market; but I think the memory foam is about as good as it gets; and the cheaper ones are a little better than none at all, but (again) not much better.
Product Review: Wonderful Relief! Summary: 5 Stars
I'm five months pregnant and work at a computer all day. My back was suffering! This seat cushion is a dream come true and has relieved the pressure I had on my coccyx from sitting all day. I highly recommend this seat cushion to those who have lower back pain from sitting all day!
Product Review: Works better than the donut Summary: 5 Stars
My 77 year old mom fell and hit her tail bone. She was extremely picky about what she sat on. She was in alot of pain for a couple weeks. But she liked this cushion. She liked it better than big puffy pillows or a donut.
Product Review: You butt will thank you! Summary: 5 Stars
I work on computers all day and have lower back problems. This cushion helps me get through the day. It seems a little pricy, but after using it for a few months, I can tell you its worth it.
