Customer Review: Good basic pencil, but can be had cheaper locally

This is, by all measures, a good basic jumbo styptic pencil. It is indeed larger in diameter than most styptic pencils. I've had the best results cupping a little water in my palm and rubbing the pencil in that, instead of running water directly over the pencil. Running water over the pencil is wasteful and can cause the bottom of the pencil to errode and eventually break off.
Given the above, I wouldn't order another styptic pencil online. I've found they can be had locally for around $1 at pretty much any beauty supply store. I've also found other products i prefer, like single use liquid styptic swabs and other liquid styptic products. Luckily I cut my self infrequently enough now that the extra cost of the swabs isn't that big of a deal. If you're just starting our wet-shaving (DE, SE, Straight, or otherwise), a plain cheap styptic pencil is probably the way to go.
