Product Review: They are ENERGY Bars, not snacks

Clif Bars are high-density energy bars, designed to replace the fuel your body needs during demanding workouts. I use them during adventure racing, mountain climbing, and kayaking. They are excellent compared to all the other "power" type bars that are available. These are not "healthy snacks" for couch potatoes to smack on while watching TV. Do that and it'll end up on your butt! Used for the intended purpose, and when purchased fresh, these deserve the 5-star rating I've given.
I buy the variety pack at my local [...], and the price is lower than Amazon's gold box special price. The other advantage of purchasing food in a brick and mortar store is that you can verify the product expiration date. Several reviewers complained about this product being stale and/or out-dated. I've purchased other food products from Amazon and have also noted they are pushing close to the expiration date, meaning that one needs to consume a case of food within a week or two before it expires. Buyer beware.

My husband and I are both health food nuts and are into the fitness-gym, food-is-fuel mentality. When he plateaued at the gym gain-wise, he added these to his diet, and the combination of his high protein, moderate carb diet along with these has pushed him over that hump and he's made significant gains in muscle mass as well as endurance. These are great meal replacements for the average active person and a great addition to a high-calorie, amped carb diet.
These are not great meal replacements if you are watching your weight or are trying for a low carb diet plan. If you are interested in this sort of meal replacement or supplement bar, I'd guide you towards the Pure Protein or EAS Carb Control lines.
These taste really great, (they taste like super "bad-list" junk food to me, but they really aren't bad) and they come in various flavors, all of which are really easy on the palate.

I recently bought a Clif Bar to try - Chocolate Brownie, not included in this variety pack, but ate half before running on the treadmill and I ran for a long time! Wooo! And it tastes so good. No need to eat the whole thing at once as it is 240 cal. I haven't yet trying in lieu of breakfast but sounds like a neat idea :DProduct Review: very tasty

These taste great and are very dense. Perfect for someone very very active. They are high-calorie though, so definitely not meant for a less active person, unless it's a meal replacement.
