This lap desk is great for writing and working on my netbook. It is comfortable, the cushion is breathable and it is also aesthetically pleasing, which is always a bonus. The wood finish is laminate, but I expected that going into it and the lap desk looks great all-the-same. It's a nice simple wooden lap desk. Exactly what I wanted. The wood is nicely finished and feels sturdy, but the desk is light-weight and comfortable. The pad is black cloth with what feels like small foam peanuts for the padding. So it forms to your lap nicely and comfortably without being overly hot. I used it for my laptop (Macbook Pro, 15") and the little lip works great to hold the laptop from sliding towards me. There is just enough room (barely) for me to slide it to one side and use my wireless mighty mouse. It also sits steady on the bed beside me so I can set my laptop up on it and watch video or read while laying down.Product Review: Perfect!

I bought this lap desk for my husband for Christmas and he loves it! The pad underneath makes the desk comfortable for the lap, the straps hold the pens, papers, etc. and it's made well. All quality! I recommend highly.Product Review: Poor Design - Returned

I had no problems with the desk portion of this product. The wood was nicely finished and the rail at the bottom was a detail that I specifically wanted in a lap desk.
It is with the construction of the bottom that I had the problem.
The cushion is small and attached with a large sharp wooden rim on all four sides. I use my lap desk while reclining, either in bed or on the couch and this design means that the sharp edges of the rim dig into my legs constantly - and painfully. I tried every position to get comfortable using this, but in the end there wasn't one for me, so I've returned this product to the seller.
I had no issues with the seller when I asked to return the item, but a box this big isn't cheap to ship back.
