Product Reviews of CLR Power Plumber Pressurized Drain Opener Plunger Kit, 4.5-Ounce CanProduct Review: Works But Can Be A Filthy Mess! Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this in a grocery store as an item being discontinued and for under two dollars. Claiming 15 uses, how could I lose? Let me say, yes it worked. It worked remarkably well. However, the first time was a filthy mess. The CLR Power Plumber uses a strong pressurized blast into your sink, virtually cleaning everything in its path. There are a few problems. The head of the can that emits the pressure into the sink is hard plastic and does not give a good seal over the sink hole. Also, you have to strongly hold a towel (not a sponge) over the overflow in the basin. I didn't hold a strong enough plug over the overflow and with one simple push, the CLR blasted rusty brown garbage all over my bathroom walls, mirror and my white T-Shirt and shorts. It was almost funny - almost.
The second time I tried using it, I firmly held the can over the sink hole and took a small towel to cover the overflow. It worked. This drain was always getting clogged with hair and even Drano at large stinky doses never lasted. If you can be sure to create a strong seal everywhere, this CLR Power Plumber is great. If not, you've got a real nasty mess on your hands. So, yes, I do recommend it - with some serious thought about pre-usage.
Product Review: Works Like a Plunger on Roids Summary: 3 Stars
This basically is a POWER plunger...it will attempt to dislodge any clog you have and send it further down the pipe. While this might be ok for TP and waste, a hair clog just moves to a new bend in the pipe and gets stuck there. The force is so powerful it blew my pipe right off the tub--so I ended up having to call a plumber anyway.
I can see the benefit on this product for monthly maintenance, but not on specific, stubborn clogs.
Product Review: Wow! Really works!! Summary: 5 Stars
I tried just about everything on a very clogged slow-running tub drain that my daughter had gummed up with hair, soap, shampoo, and hair coloring in her bathroom. I used Drano, enzyme stuff, you name it. I shot this down the drain (after stopping the tub overflow and the bath sink drain) and it was running great within seconds. Wow! Now I can get the kid out of my bathroom!
Product Review: mini volcano Summary: 3 Stars
this product created a mini volcano -- sort of like a science experiment in my sink. the catch is that i could have done the same with baking soda and vinegar! what really cleared the sink was using the plunger, not the chems, so i advise you buy the plunger only (though your kids will enjoy the volcano if they're watching)
Product Review: very sloppy product Summary: 1 Stars
This product did not work on my toilet. I think CLR Power Plumber is a very sloppy product. Do not waste your money on this.
