Product Reviews of the CLR Power Plumber Pressurized Drain Opener Plunger Kit, 4.5-Ounce CanProduct Review: Works But Can Be A Filthy Mess! Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this in a grocery store as an item being discontinued and for under two dollars. Claiming 15 uses, how could I lose? Let me say, yes it worked. It worked remarkably well. However, the first time was a filthy mess. The CLR Power Plumber uses a strong pressurized blast into your sink, virtually cleaning everything in its path. There are a few problems. The head of the can that emits the pressure into the sink is hard plastic and does not give a good seal over the sink hole. Also, you have to strongly hold a towel (not a sponge) over the overflow in the basin. I didn't hold a strong enough plug over the overflow and with one simple push, the CLR blasted rusty brown garbage all over my bathroom walls, mirror and my white T-Shirt and shorts. It was almost funny - almost.
The second time I tried using it, I firmly held the can over the sink hole and took a small towel to cover the overflow. It worked. This drain was always getting clogged with hair and even Drano at large stinky doses never lasted. If you can be sure to create a strong seal everywhere, this CLR Power Plumber is great. If not, you've got a real nasty mess on your hands. So, yes, I do recommend it - with some serious thought about pre-usage.
