This is beautiful red dragon's blood resin. I received two chunks (1 to 1.5 inches) and lots of dust and crumbly peices. This made soooo much intensely sweet-scented smoke in my house that I actually preferred to use the tiny crumbles and dust. Even the smallest piece I broke off the larger rock just billowed out into the room and I thought the smoke alarm would go off. Having the windows open or burning outside is best in my opinion. It's like any other resin in that way, like frankincense. It also smells similar to other resins you might have smelled, though sweeter. And so exotic and other-worldly smelling to those of us who aren't used to smelling these things in Catholic church.
In order to burn this, you need some of those pure charcoal discs that are specifically made for burning loose incense, herbs and resins. And be careful if you aren't familiar with this burning style, as the little charcoal disc gets immensely white hot and the resin you sit on top of it begins a sticky, hot melt where it touches the charcoal, thus creating the smokey incense. I place my disc inside a small cast iron bowl with little feet and a handle, then sit that on a trivet or metal trey, and then lower the incense in with long tweezers or a spoon.

A pinch of Dragon's Blood added to other incenses increases their potency and power. To quiet a noisy house, powerder some Dragon's Blood, mix it with sugar and salt, and place in a bottle.
