Product Reviews of Breathe Right Nasal Strips, Large, Tan, 38-Count Boxes (Pack of 2)Product Review: Exactly what I needed Summary: 5 Stars
I took a few too many punches to the face during martial training and "telescoped" the cartilage in my nose. The reduced size of my nasal passages made it hard to sleep. I tried "nose cones", but they were uncomfortable and didn't stay in place. The strips make it easier to breathe, and I don't notice them at all.
Product Review: Expectations and Preparation - Will you breathe right or not?? Summary: 5 Stars
Working with Breathe Right takes a little practice. But once in place as directed, they really do a fantastic job of opening up the airway (nares) from a nasal standpoint. If you have other upper airway problems that get in the way of breathing, these probably won't help you. I had a deviated septum and a septoplasty 6 months ago. The Breathe Right strips gave me moderate relief before the surgery and now they give me excellent relief from allergies and occasional stuffiness.
You can't expect a miracle from Breathe Right strips, but they are worth a try if you have some stuffiness from allergies and just need to mechanically open up your nostrils a little wider. This is what they were meant to do and this is what they do very well.
A tip I learned to ensure they stay on and don't peel off easily.
1) Clean your nose with an alcohol swab BD Alcohol Swabs - 3 Boxes of 100 or soap and water. Alcohol is quick and easy though and really does the trick. Let the alcohol dry before placing the strip on your nose.
2) Place the strip at the exact angle as suggested in the directions. You may have to experiment with sizes. For me, a Large is best.
Remember, preparation and expectations play a lot into finding out if the Breathe Right method will work for you. Be realistic but also don't be afraid to try. They may be a wonderful adjunct to other therapies or they just might do the trick all by themselves.
Happy breathing to you!
Product Review: Expensive, but they work Summary: 4 Stars
These gizmos work wonders. They reduce snoring/apnea by a simple mechanical solution of holding your nostrils open. Much more effective than nasal surgery or decongestants. Unfortunately, they are expensive since there is only one brand.
Product Review: Helped My Dad But Not Me Summary: 3 Stars
My Mom and Dad recommended these nasal strips, along with using the Breathe Right throat strips. Apparently, this combination has been the only thing that has made my dad's snoring more tolerable for my Mom. My Mom was clear that I should try the "Extra," and not the weaker versions of the nasal strips.
However, after having used them for several weeks, I can't say I've noticed any difference in myself. They did open my nasal passages more, it's true, but they didn't help me with my snoring or not getting a good night's sleep.
I guess each user is different. They may be worth your trying them: they worked (with the nasal strips) for my Dad, but not for me. They're inexpensive enough that they're worth a shot for anyone who has a problem with snoring or sleep apnea.
Product Review: Helps my post-nasal drip Summary: 5 Stars
The short of it is that I have post-nasal drip, which can sometimes be troublesome. For whatever reason, the problem seems a lot worse when I breath through my mouth, which is most of the time at night. These strips allow me to breath more effectively though my nose, which improves post-nasal drip symptoms.
When it comes to strips that are similar to Breathe Right, stick with the real thing because the generics I tried are not nearly as good. For example, I tried CVS's house brand and there wasn't enough adhesive to keep the strip stuck to my nose. I washed and dried my nose per their instructions but the strip wouldn't stay in place. The Breathe Right strips not only adhere better, but they work better because there is more tension in the springy thing that keeps the strip open.
Amazon offers this item at a good price and I recommend it.
