Ended up getting this for $129.99. To me it is well worth the price. I love the portability of taking the shaver when I travel on business. I travel for 4 days and have it fully charged and the charge lasts the entire trip. Gives me a very close shave. I love the idea of the cleaning feature, place it in the charger and press the cleaning button and walk away.Product Review: Braun Took a Giant Step Backwards With the 590

I have owned several Braun shavers, including most recently a 7680. All of my past shavers have performed beautifully, and have given me a great shave. As my 7680 was getting a little old, I decided to buy the 590. Boy was this a huge mistake. I have used it for a year now, and I hate it more and more every day. Compared to the 7680, this shaver gives a very poor shave, has horrible ergonomics, vibrates a ton more, and overall just does not get the job done. The only improvement I can see they made was in the pop up trimmer. I think they tried to improve the clean and charge station, which no longer has the arm that can break. However, there is no way to clean the shaver without charging it at the same time. By charging it every day, it reduces the battery life, as the batteries are only good for so many charges. Braun, I don't know what you were thinking when you developed this shaver. If this is the direction you are heading in, consider this my last purchase of your products.Product Review: Braun shaver

I've had my Braun 5510 for many years and it always gave a very close shave so I decided to get this shaver because it was ranked 1st by a recent Consumer Reports that I have. I also got the Remington MicroScreen MS2-390 for my girlfriend because it was ranked 2nd in the same report. Every time I used the more expensive Braun Series 5 590cc, I would use the Remington after that to see if it would get anything else and it did. The Remington gave a noticeably much closer shave. I want to hear the hairs going through the screen and you do with the Remington at only 1/3 the price. I was stumped until I tried something.
I had some leftover replacement blades for my Braun 5510 and decided to replace one of those blades with the one that came with the Braun Series 5 590cc and the difference was totally amazing. It shaved just as close as the Remington. You can see the difference in the blades by looking at them on the ends, but they both fit perfectly. Make the change and you'll see the difference.
I also agree with an earlier comment about the cleaning system being a rip-off! Just use the brush and a can of compressed air once in while and you'll be fine. I might try the cleaning system once a month or longer, but right now I'm satisfied.
