After using this razor for over two months, I have to say this is by far the best electric I've ever owned. Over the years I've switched back and forth, from blades to electric and back again (and again), but this razor will probably keep me humming along for a long time. It not only gives a great shave, but it does so even after 2 or 3 days without shaving, when my whiskers are much longer than normal. My last electric was a Remington and would pull on long whiskers. It was very frustrating and often painful - I DREADED the Monday morning shave! And the Remington lasted barely more than a year (WITH a few blade & screen changes along the way). It had a rubber seal that wore out and allowed beard clippings to accumulate in the body of the razor. That started interfering with the operation and it was all downhill from there. I took it apart end cleaned it out once, but it was clear that the end was near. The design of this Braun looks like it will not be susceptible to the same problem.
Another thing I like about the Braun, since I also shave my head, is the fact that it handles everything from the stiffest beard to the fine hairs on the back of my neck.
What might be the Braun's BEST feature is that it's the quietest electric I've ever used. Every other electric razor I've owned (a few each of Remington & Norelco) were very noisy. I actually worried that they would damage my hearing (they might even be partly responsible for my tinnitus - who knows???). But this Braun doesn't **BUZZ** like the others. It's more like a dull hum. I don't worry at all about using it near my ears.
Lastly, the cleaning system seems to be OK. Not sure it's worth the cost and expensive bathroom counter space, but it does make the razor smell good. I do NOT use it daily as suggested, but once a week seems to be OK. I figure a $6 refill every month or two won't break the bank. I'm getting them through subscribe and save, so I catch a price break there.
I highly recommend this razor. I know $200 is pretty steep for a razor. That's the first thing I thought, but now that I've tried it I'm glad I did. When it dies I won't hesitate to buy another.

Well, first of all the shaver is a terrific night light for the bathroom. The cool blue glow from the LED that illuminates the cleaning solution level makes it easy to find the bathroom in the dark. In addition to the night light, the series 5 gives a darn good shave. The battery in my 10year-old Braun finally reached the point where it no longer held a charge. I hope my replacement lasts as long. It took a couple of weeks to get used to the new ergonomic streamlined handle and flex-head adjustment switch, but I am adapting well. I miss the fluid level indicator in the cleaning reservoir, but that may still be available on the more expensive models. I have not yet had to replace the cleaning cartridge, but the cartridge itself is the same as my former shaver, so I was able to use already purchased cartridges. The new model has a head replacement indicator light which should be good feature if indeed it does come on 18 months from now. I am pleased with the Braun Series 5 shaver, because it gives me a good, clean, and quick shave.Product Review: Braun Shaver 5 590cc

This is my second Braun Shaver that I have owned. Like always very easy to use and clean. The Series 5 is even better because you have a cleaning solution station built right in the charger holder. As long as Braun makes shavers I wouldn't own any other.Product Review: Braun Shaver Series 5 -590

Great Shaver. After years of using a rotary shaver, this was a pleasent surprize. I like that you can rinse it off with hot water and only use the cleaning solution every other week or so.
