Product Reviews of Braun Shaver Series 5 590ccProduct Review: THE BEST USED TODATE Summary: 5 Stars
I've been checking reviews, etc to try and determine the best shaver to replace my current one. After seeing the tour of the Braun factory on the History channel, I decided to purchase the Braun. I must say I am not disappointed, for I have found it far superior to any of the previously owned electric shavers. You want be disappointed if y purchase one.
Product Review: Takes a while to get used to it Summary: 4 Stars
If you have not used an electric foil shaver before or used a rotary shaver then it will take some getting used to this one. At first your skin might turn reddish and become irritated but this will subside as your skin adapts to it. It can provide a reasonably close shave comparable to a razor blade but you often have to target specific areas over and over to get the desired shave. The cleaning solution is a great way to store and charge your shaver and it seems to do an excellent job of cleaning the shaver too. You can also clean the shaver manually and instructions are included to show you how to do this so using the cleaning stand is not mandatory but I would recommend you do so every now and then.
Overall a great shaver, certainly better than the Philips Coolskin I owned several years back. You could save yourself a few bucks if you get the 570 over this one as the only difference seems to be the cleaning LED on the shaver. Better yet go for the 550 or 560 if you don't think you need the cleaning stand.
Product Review: This does not work Summary: 1 Stars
I got tired of Norelco shavers and the expensive replacement blades. I thought I'd try something new, and since Braun is a name I associate with quality, I bought this razor.
And was immediately disappointed. You can eventually get a good shave with this razor, but you will go over and over and over the same spot. It takes a really long time--much longer than my old Norelco. Eventually I took to having a manual razor and shaving cream for days when I didn't have much time. Eventually, I used the disposable razor most days.
I mentioned this to a friend and he'd had the exact same experience switching from Norelco to Braun.
I have now retired this model in favor of a brand new Norelco--which has a similar self cleaning system. I cannot recommend this razor--buy a Norelco
Product Review: Welcome Back Summary: 5 Stars
I used a Braun for many years. Twice I purchased a Norelco but I was never satisfied and always came back to Braun. The most serious competition came when my wife purchased a top of the line Panasonic. I used it for quite a while and it seemed very good but the more I used it, the more I wanted a Braun. I just think that Braun has it down. They last a long time; they're really comfortable to shave with and they do a great job. The series 5 is a marked improvement over my last Braun and over the Panasonic. I probably will not try anything else again.
Product Review: braun shaver Summary: 4 Stars
The device works very well. I am very surprised that is seems to work better than a blade ( Mach 3). It is important to set to the closest position to get this effect. I did not experience any razor burn or skin chaffing. The only negative is that it is expensive and for optimum performance needs supplies for the clean and renew system.
