Just echoing a lot of other people - This replacement does not stand up to the original. After 5 months, shaving has become a very long painful process. In fact, nearly more of a hassle than shaving with a blade. Heaven forbid you miss a day, it's like using an Epilady on your face.
Very disappointed in Braun.

I would add that in addition to the deceptive advertising, Braun customer support is passing along misinformation. When I contacted them regarding the discontinued support for the original foil/cutter block, their response was to refer me to a store called the Essentials, which to no surprise, no longer carries the original.Product Review: Painful!

A few years ago when I asked Braun about upgrading to the "360 Complete" head for my Activator 8595 shaver, I was told it was not compatible. Funny thing: A couple years later the only replacement head offered is this one that magically fits all three generations of the shaver.
Like the other Activator owners here I am also in for a painful experience whenever I skip a day of shaving. The cutter grabs and pulls the long hairs -- something that never happened with the original Activator cutterheads even as they were wearing out.
If you shave every day you'll probably be OK. I, on the other hand am too lazy for that. And I never shave on my days off which means first day back to work: OUCH!!
Unfortunately, short of ditching your $100 shaver and buying a new one, there's really no choice. We can only hope that someone from Braun will see these reviews and make a change. I'm not holding my breath!

I got this for my stepdad for a present since he was complaining about his razor now pulling on his hair while he shaves. It made his razor like new-so sharp that he wasn't used to it in the beginning. The replacement head was a wonderful investment!Product Review: Poor substitute for original foil/cutter

After reading all of the reviews posted for the replacement foil/cutter, I decided to buy it in spite of everyone saying that the new design is not nearly as good as the original. Unfortunately, I have to report that it is significantly worse. The new blade and foil leads to many pulled hairs (very painful). The only way to avoid it is to move as slow as possible across your face. I will say that replacing the old cutter did make a huge difference in both the closeness of the shave and ability to cut all hairs in one pass, but the pulling and ripping is not worth it. Perhaps it is so close because it is no longer cutting, but just pulling all of the hairs out!
I saved my original blade and am considering switching back to it in spite of the increased shaving time. I have contacted Braun/Proctor and Gamble with my concerns, and am still waiting to hear back from them.
