Product Reviews of Braun Series 5 (8985) Men's ShaverProduct Review: A great product for those that hate to shave! Summary: 5 Stars
I've only had the shaver for a month or so but I absolutely love it. I absolutely hate shaving. The razor's always give me razor burn and it always seems like I am late for something (sometimes work) because I needed to shave. With the Braun I can do a quick shave in just a minute or two and I dont' have to worry about razor burn, shaving cream or keeping sharp razor's on hand. I don't even have to clean the Braun with the self cleaning/charging stand that is included. I would recommend this shaver to anyone. The only thing is you do have to give your skin/hair a little time to adjust to it just like the manual says.
Product Review: A great razor that works like you'd expect Summary: 4 Stars
This razor works great and shaves like a champion. I've had it for about a week as of writing this review and it cuts closer than any razor I've had in the past. It handles very well, never pulls, and lives up to my expectations. I only have two complaints with it.
1. The razor "feels" good and expensive like it should, but the base looks and feels cheap, almost like it belongs with some other product. While this is a minor issue, I paid about $140 for this thing, and the package together doesn't have that feeling.
Overall the purchase was worthwhile and I'm glad I shelled out the extra money for it.
2. The razor is pretty loud while operating, especially when you have the trimmer in use as well. While it cuts very, very well, this product is far louder than any razor I've used before. The cleaning base is reasonable in terms of sound and is fine if you shut the bathroom door.
Product Review: A great shave! Summary: 4 Stars
The quest for a new shaver was not an easy one for me. I've been a Braun customer for years, but my previous Braun shaver wasn't treating my face that well. My beard/stubble/growth is of the really tough, scouring pad variety. In contrast, I've got semi-oily, dry and sensitive skin on my cheeks and neck (I know it sounds hot, but ladies, I'm taken). My previous Braun shaver was leaving me feeling like I had just mowed my face with lawn tractor outfitted with a front-facing flamethrower. And while my checks were smooth, my neck hairs weren't cut and my skin looked like I got in a fight with a blender. Upgrading to the 8985 solved all of that. My skin feels great after I shave, primarily because it's not burning or bleeding. It gets my stubborn neck hairs. It cleans itself -- joy! It feels light in my hand and easy to maneuver. The trim feature actually works quite well. I considered one of those shavers with the orbiting shave heads, but decided to stick with what I know and am glad I did.
Product Review: A huge improvement for me! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this to replace an old Norelco shaver I had. I am very impressed with the SPEED at which I can shave, and the closeness I can get with that shave. I know that some people feel that electric razors may not be as close as regular razors, and I cannot attest to that, but if you are in the electric razor world, this provides a really really nice shave.
A few things:
1. The cleaning is loud, so I hope you are not in the same room. It gets kind of annoying.
2. The cleaning does not clean the beard trimmer, just the razor part
3. Comes with a nice locking feature to hold the head in place so it doesn't swivel. That provides a better shave.
I would recommend this product!
Product Review: A superior electric razor Summary: 5 Stars
I am very satisfied with my Braun 360. It shaves considerably closer than my old Norelco rotary even when I changed new blades. I also like the self cleaning feature, tho I am cleaning it every other day to prolong the cleaning cartridge. It was an expensive purchase but I am not disappointed. As to being loud, it is louder than the rotary but not a problem.
