Product Review: A very cost effective electric shaver

Since I have previously owned a Braun 1775 Free Control shaver, I am a "repeat" customer. This says that I am a happy, satisfied customer of this product. I had read a review a few years back in Consumers Report magazine and this shaver had an excellent rating. Yes, it is a basic electric shaver - but it does the job and does it superbly; shaves close, easy to clean in running water (I suggets warm or hot water), and it has an excellent price point. Does it shave as close as a safety razor? No, but no electric shaver does (don't believe all the claims you hear). But it comes close. The more expensive Braun shavers have double heads to shave a bit faster, but I do not know if you will get a closer shave than the budgeted 1775 Braun. This shaver is a good starting point if you have never tried a Braun shaver over the "rotary" type. Try it; you'll like it!Product Review: AS CLOSE AS A BLADE

I recently purchased the Braun Free Control #1775 electric shaver and I can honestly say that it shaves as close as my old reliable Gillette Sensor razor. I've tried other Braun models costing up to 5 times the price of the Free Control and none of them shaves as close. I think the secret is that is uses just one large cutting block which is heavier and closer cutting than those 2 headed models. Also, the floating foil head is MUCH THINNER than the more expensive Braun models. It floats up and down on your face, and the foil itself is very flexible so it compresses onto the cutter and you barely have to press the shaver to your face. For $35. this shaver out performs $150. models and is an unbelievable value. Don't waste your money on anything more expensive, they don't get any closer than this!!!Product Review: AWESOMENESSNESS

This is the best electric razor I have ever used!
I have been using electric razors, on and off, for 20 years, I have used cheap ones and expensive ones, and this so far is the best. And to top it off, it's one of the most inexpensive!
Battery life is great! I charge it once every 2 months. There was no transition time for me. I've been using it for about 6 months now and no razor burn what so ever! It is super easy to clean, just stick it under the faucet and shake. No fuss no muss!
Definitely give this guy a try before you go for something more expensive!
Product Review: Adequate, for the price

I don't know if it is my face or what, but I have never had much luck with an electric shaver. I started shaving with a Braun foil shaver about 10 years ago. It left random long hairs, so I switched to a Mach 3 razor. A few years later I tried a Norelco rotary, which would work in a pinch, but for only about two days in a row before I would need to cleanup the scraps the a razor. And even then it was not as close as I would like.
After getting sick of shaving with a razor every day, but not wanting to spend $250 on something that might not work better then the shaver I already had, I decided to buy the 1775, which had good reviews.
It took over three weeks for my face to adjust to this shaver, but once it did, I was fairly happy with the results. It still leaves long hairs on my neck, but it shaves everything else quite close. I still have to clean up my neck with a razor every three days or so, but just a little bit, so its quick and I don't even both lathering up.
Overall, this is a good shaver for the price. However, for me at least, it is not sufficient to replace a razor completely. I would be happy with any shaver that allows me to need a razor once a week or less. I will probably end up trying one of Braun's top of the line models, but until then, I am content with this budget model.

Close shave. Easy to use and clean. Handle provides good grip. Sideburn trimmer is powerful, wide, and accurate. Previous experience with Braun has shown that the least durable shaver component is the foil. It will be interesting to see how long this one lasts.
