I replaced an older and more expensive Braun with the 1775 when the older shaver's battery would no longer hold a charge. Considering the relatively inexpensive price I paid for the FreeControl on Amazon, the shaver is an amazing bargain. It's probably about 90 percent as good in the shave department as my now-discard, multiple-head Braun but cost about 60 percent less. If you're looking for the ultimate in closeness, opt for the more expensive option, but if you're looking for a whisker-per-buck champ, buy the FreeControl.Product Review: A close shave is sometimes just a close shave

Is it as good as a blade? NO. But, is it better than any other electric razor I have ever had? YES. Good for those times when you can't or won't operate a real razor. Just don't kiss your girl 4 hours later. Battery charger works well. It hold a charge for a long time with a number of shaves per charge. Great travelling razor for when you are in the middle of the desert with no electricity or water. Good razor - Good value.Product Review: A decent razor for the money

I bought this razor to take to the gym for shaving after early morning workouts. I was sick of disposable razors nicking pieces of my throat off immediately before putting on a white dress shirt and thought a nice electric would do the trick.
This little Braun seems to have an unlimited battery and provides a decent cut - but the single-head does not cut anywhere near as good as a real razor and shaving gel. Shaving every day it does an adequate job, but last weekend I did not shave, so I went from Friday morning until Monday morning between shaves and it took a very long time to complete the shave. Afterwards I had some strange hairs remaining in different places on my throat. So I'd recommend a real razor after skipping a few days, then use the Braun for the daily work.

I bought this razor to check out the foil shave. I've used Norelco and Panasonic shavers before. I have dermatitis and break out easily. This is the first of the electric razors that I've come across that gave me a great, close shave and didn't break me out. This razor was great but I really wanted a little more. So I looked up the Braun 8995 and got everything in one package. This is a great shaver for a graduate or somebody getting a start in life. It definitely turned me on to the foil shaver. This is the best. But when you're ready for a razor that takes care of itself, go on and get a Braun 8995.
