I had a beard last week, but when Amazon had this as a daily special for $104, I decided to give up my facial hair.
What is most surprising is that after not having shaved for almost a decade, that I got a close, clean shave, with absolutely no irritation. I used Norelco rotaries way back, and with much tugging of facial hairs and effort, I got a mediocre shave from the Norelco's. With the Braun, I get blade closeness, comfortable shaves, with no (yes that was NO) irritation. Very pleased with this purchase.
Very easy to do a cursory cleaning (if you don't have the base handy). Or stick in the base, close the bathroom door (so you don't hear the buzzing of it running) and in 35 minutes it's as good as new.
The plug could have a better design, but other than that it's perfect...

I have shaved with a dry electric for over 10 years, and believe that this is by far the best shaver I have used.

I have had several razors over the years and this is by far the best. The fact that is cleans itself is just a bonus. The main benifit is in how well it shaves. It's no match for a blade when it comes to closeness, but who cares. It cuts all of my hairs in the first pass, no other electric has ever done that for me and it cuts closer than any electric I've ever used. With my last shaver, an expensive Norelco, I would have to go over my neck several times in every direction to get most of the hairs. I find myself shaving twice with this one just out of habit, but it's not really necessary. The cleaning cycle is about as noisy as the shaver is when it's being used, so if your wife is sleeping right next to the bathroom, that may not be to great. The Cleaning cycle, cycles on and off so it's not like it's making constant noise. My wife gets up before I do, so for us it's not a problem at all.
Bottom line, I really like my new razor.

I've gone through quite a few different models in the past, and this one is a keeper. Does an amazing job, the auto-cleaner is great, holds a charge forever, quick-charge, travel case, etc. etc. etc. Expensive, yes, but worth it.
