If I had to do it over again, I would have bought a Norelco. My old Norelco needed new blades, and this razor was deeply discounted, so I decided to give it a try. I have used this shaver for a couple years now. After around six months, the foil developed holes in the corners and needed to be replaced. A new foil cost around $30.
The Braun cleaning solution is not good. With my Norelco, I rinsed it under the tap. With this Braun, you need to run it though this noisy contraption that takes up space. The cleaner requires alcohol, which needs to be replaced every few months because the filters get clogged with hair. Another reviewer gave instruction on how to empty the container and refill it with oil and alcohol, which is what I do, but it is not enjoyable. This Braun cleaner is significantly worse than just using tap water for the Norelco.
Near the end of a shave, the shaver starts dropping little hairs all over the sink, even though I keep the shaver clean. Occasionally, the foil head pops off and little hairs go flying everywhere. I never had this problem with the Norelco.
It takes me a couple minutes longer to shave with this Braun than it did with my Norelco.
This shaver works, but it is a maintenance hassle and is definitely not as good as the high-end Norelco (which costs twice as much). For a product I use every day, I should have spent the extra money for the better product.
Product Review: Buy the Activator model instead

After about a year and a half with this unit, I have gone through two cleaning stands. The latch breaks after a few months making the stand a pretty paperweight. Braun has tacitly acknowledged this design flaw by introducing the Activator model without a latch on the stand, using plain old gravity to hold the razor in. What a concept.
For those of you who have broken your stands and don't want to shell out for a new razor, you can hunt around online and find a new replacement stand for $40-$50 as I did. Unfortunately it may not last you much longer than the first.

This razor does everything it should and does it well. Braun makes the best razors around.
However, I had this 9 months and the storage stand wouldn't stay clamped. Hence, the cleaning system won't work. The company that repaired it said that they have fixed over 300 of these in the past 3 years. Evidently, the alcohol affects a mechanism inside the base.
Product Review: Chronic motor problem

This is a great shaver when it works. After a couple months of owning it, the motor became extremely loud and shaved poorly. I took it to a certified repair shop, and got in line behind all of the other model 7526 shavers that also had this problem. It got fixed in about a month, and it lasted about another year or so when the new motor also went out. This seems to be a chronic problem with these shavers.
