Product Review: A Good, Cheap Alternative

I can't say that I love the Braun 5270 Silk-epil X'elle, but I do like it enough to keep using it. First of all, I don't know who claims that you can use it as infrequently as every four weeks. I have been using the 5270 for a month now, and I have to shave my legs at least once a week and my armpits every two to three days. In addition, it definitely takes me longer to epilate than it ever did to shave, so I'm not sure that there is any time savings. That said, the hair is definitely finer, less noticeable, and sparser, and I can only hope that things will continue this way until I hardly have any hair left at all.... My other complaint is that, no matter how much I epilate, my legs never feel completely smooth -- I suspect that I'm feeling hair that I've previously epilated that is too short for the tweezers to grab, but it is annoying. So, why am I keeping at it? I like the fact that, even as the hair is growing back, you really can't see it. There is no appearance of stubble or "five o'clock shadow" (for lack of a better term) on my armpits as the hair is growing back. Also, you can't beat either the cost or the ability to epilate at home on your own schedule. A final word on the pain factor -- it never hurt on my legs and, after the first time on my underarms (which was downright excruciating and actually drew blood), it doesn't really hurt on my armpits, either. I think it still would hurt on my armpits but for the fact that I am now contending with significantly less hair so there's not as much chance for the pain to accumulate. I have not yet braved my bikini area and am planning to follow another reviewer's suggestion to get a wax first and epilate thereafter. Overall, although I don't love this epilator, it beats shaving in appearance and waxing in cost, so I will probably keep using it.Product Review: A Great Personal Hygeine and Beauty Product

I've had this for a year now and chose this because I didn't want to spend money getting my arms and armpits re-waxed periodically and having to schedule numerous appointments. I didn't need a giant two-headed epilating monster, neither. This thing is quaint and does the job. It's also painful, but so is beauty. You get used to it over time.
It comes with two massaging heads, trimmer, epilator head, plastic trimmer guard and cleaning brush. No complaints. Braun knows what they're doing and the price is more than reasonable.
This isn't any cheap piece of plastic. The hardware seems to be of great, solid construction and I see myself using this for the next decade or so.
And, ladies, don't epilate your legs, face, or pubic region. I just use this on my arms and armpits and use the trimmer on my pubic region. Epilating such a large region like the legs is ASKING for trouble, and all the other regions are just too sensitive.

My boyfriend bought me this after one night of sleeping which turned ugly due to some stubble on my legs causing grave pain to him even though I wanted to cuddle :)
I have never waxed my legs (I have however had a Brazilian) so this was the first time I ever tried something like this. I have to say on a scale of 1-5, 1 being lowest, this rates on pain level at 1. I don't know how they do it. Yes, you feel something happening but it doesn't make you flinch. Not gonna lie -- I sort of found pleasure in seeing my little leg stubbles flying all around as it did it's job.
It seems to take a little while to complete the job on your legs, upwards of 30 minutes to get every last hair (at least for me, perhaps I'm a perfectionist) however you also need to remember that this will last a lot longer than shaving!
I am in process of laser hair removal on my nether-bits and find that the shave attachment works amazingly around the bikini area. I don't have to worry about razoring off something important now :)
For the price, this is absolutely worth it. Save money on razors and going to the salon.

Braun Silkepil X'elle is a great epilating device. Its so pain free that even I have been using it for some time. When I moved to the US, I tried finding it in regular stores but I could not get it. Thank you Amazon for your help. The best part it that the heads of the device which I had previously from the middleeast were suitable for the american model as well so now I can use the large head from Braun 5270 and the smal head for facial hair (from my previous device) on this model of Braun. Very highly recommended for epilation.
